A former employee in the engineering department drops this exposé, "I worked in the [Marine Harvest] engineering department. Worst experience of my life. Management were terrible and did not take you seriously. All you are is a lackey. No holidays. To be fair the money was average so not too bad on that front. Unfortunately every employee outside HR or management is just seen as expendable. Put in a sick note, sacked...try to defend yourself against the bullying by management, sacked. Also with regards to management, it's their way or guess what, you're sacked. Cameras everywhere and they are always watching you (that I did have numerous experiences with). Everything was going well for me and was being praised until one day something happened which was out of my control and my days were numbered. Sacked within a week. Purely because management didn't get their way. Environment is depressing and there is little to no banter about the place. Everyone is miserable but as long as production keeps running who cares right? I had over 10 people telling me not to take that job but I ignored them thinking I'm sure it's all just hearsay. I was wrong and to be honest the day I was sacked was the best day I had there. I felt free when I walked out that door for the last time."
Former Employee - Production Operator says"Management treat lower level staff like dirt. Plenty of very lazy staff, who do nothing, while others do all the hard work. Favouritism means that if you're pals with managers, you can slack off and do nothing all day. Health and hygiene standards are very bad - team leaders often pick up Salmon that's been dropped onto the dirty floor and throw it back onto the line while the Managers aren't looking. A very negative atmosphere to work in. People often last just one day or even a few hours before walking out. Every 2 days, another 10 new staff are brought in while others walk out, or are fired for taking a sick day. Strict 3 sickies and you're out policy, even if it's a genuine sickness. There is a culture of getting employees in and out the door as quick as possible so that they never have to offer anyone a permanent contract. I spoke to some members of staff who have waited almost 3 years for a contract and are still waiting. Told to come in on days off, and forced to work 6 days a week often because they can't hold onto staff. If you refuse to do overtime, you're threatened with being fired - totally humiliating! Zero hour contract - so you have zero rights. Get a real job with a proper contract."
Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says"1. Poor management everywhere, and some critical positions are occupied by unqualified people. 2. Official language is Spanish 3. Some employees are paid by hourly, and they intend to delay work and get overtime pay. you will see people stay there for long time after usual working hours, but actually they just want overtime pay."

Production Operative (Former Employee) says"Hostile work environment primary manager is a bully and a degrading man that likes to belittle people in front of staff members I have never met someone like that in my life definitely from a different culture hopefully he does it to the wrong person and gets dealt with. Disgusting horrible manWages overtime staff membersManagment"
Hygiene Operative (Former Employee) says"Shocking culture of bullying and intimidation especially management on nightshift. Senior Management and human resources not interested in any reports saying so and just get rid of you if you stick up for yourselfGood colleaguesPoor managers and working environment"
Production Operative (Former Employee) says"Standing there all day weighing fish getting shouted at by Polish supervisors who can barely speak any English, was 11h shifts when I was there and horrible shift patterns. Don't apply unless you like being treated like dirt.No prosEverything"
Logistics Admin / Clerk (Former Employee) says"Previously worked there, culture is "act now think later" shocking working environment even for admin staff such as myself"
Skivvy (Former Employee) says"Started of as a great place to work but sadly went downhill very quickly as orders increased. Managers call it a family place to work, true if your face fits, but if not, forget it. Absolutely no loyalty to workers, seen some really good people forced out during my time there. Same when it comes to promotions, a lot of bureaucracy involved, friends and family of the management can just walk into a job and qualified people already in the company are totally passed over. Bullying culture when it comes to overtime. You are told it is "expected of you". Told you are paid to be "flexible" but only to the company's benefit. Not unusual to work 60-70 hour weeks and because of the banked hours system they use you aren't actually getting paid after 45hrs! When you do, it gets hit big time by tax, and if you're on a salary forget it, nothing extra!! Biggest problem in the Rosyth plant is the HR department, absolute joke. Never have time for the workers, think they are a class above everyone else and communication is non-existent. Would honestly avoid this company like the plague.Made some good friends with co-workersBullying tactics to get overtime out of you"
Production Operative (Former Employee) says"Managment haven't a clue, team leaders mostly foreign speak to you like rubbish, agency unapproachable, wages always wrong , no time off at xmas or new year , agency go home if no workFellow workersEverything"
Production Operative (Former Employee) says"Was a good place to work, good fun, then they let some of the P/Managers go, We all missed big Pablo, not the same place as it was at the start. High management DnG are the comedians of the place.NoneShifts"
Packer/Quality Control (Former Employee) says"Managers did not work along with associates. Long hours worked in a day to be told to take the next day off so overtime wouldn't be paid."
Manager (Former Employee) says"If you are not an English speaker do not even bother coming into this company, they discriminate anyone who is not Spanish.Management makes people work OT daily, even holidays, and they do not care about their employees or families.Benefits are greatZero work life balance and management is the worst, discrimination highest"
Employé libre service (Former Employee) says"Pour le travaille qu'on fait dans le froid on mérite d'être payé mieux.."
Logistics (Former Employee) says"Never seen management when i started because pertemps the agency was my employer!.Worked in logistics dept, picking and packing orders. 3 weeks in and i thought everything was going ok.No-one ever said anything different then out of the blue i was told im not up to speed and let go.Pertemps didnt even fight my corner if that was ever the excuse,Notice was via an email!!.So my advice is find somewhere else that values you more and AVOID pertemps!ColleaguesEasy replaceable at drop of a hat"
Production Worker (Former Employee) says"The lack of respect to the human being for the sake of production even to the limit of making people work with broken machines is stressful. There's no respect for diversities and gossips make the daily treat. Xenophobia, racism and homophobia are the first and last words you hear while working there. Once in a while they give free meal which comes from the leftovers the office department rejects.no prosShort breaks, 11 hours stand up"
