Big Lots, Inc. is an American retail company headquartered in Columbus, Ohio with over 1,400 stores in 47 states.

Anthony shared his experience "We came into the Big Lots on Sprague in Spokane WA to purchase a living room set. We stood there for 20 minutes before we were even acknowledged by the gentleman helping another customer right there. We were the only ones standing there. Roughly 10 minutes goes by and another gentleman came out showed us a couch that was returned with some minor damage and then brought us back to the floor to do some inventory searching around the area to see what we can find that’s new. As were walking out to the living room sets he says he’ll be right back with us. We stand there for about 10 more minutes and he comes out and walks right by us and proceeds to help another customer start an furniture search and order completely skipping over us after they had only walked up to the furniture section within minutes of him coming back. We walked out and will be doing business elsewhere. What a waste of time."

"The company got in above its head when they opened their new home office in Ohio. They did not actually have the cash flow to support it. Additionally, particularly in California, the upper management level is a boys club. Promotion and retention decisions are made based on how well you connect with your regional supervisor and not your job performance. The regional supervisor only likes to connect with the male leaders that are his direct reports. VERY SHADY decisions are made. Poor work and results are ignored as long as you can make the boss laugh. Nonewill eventually implode"

"i hired in as a assistant manager and was promoted after 2 years...they cut stores hours dramatically, executive leadership above store level is shady and dont care about their employees and managers. I was fired because of things I didnt do but i was held accountable for them. They eliminated me because I was vocal about not giving stores the tools needed, the hours and people needed to provide a great shopping expierience for the customer. I wouldnt advise anyone to apply or shop their due to their lack of caring for anything but sales and the dollar. no proslow pay, uncaring corporate, expectations, district managers are terrible and unprofessional"

"Ive worked at many retail companies over the years but this by far the worst. Terrible communication between management and employees and the lead stock person berates and yells at other employees. It's deplorable and inexcusable. Other managers there act as if they could care less whether you show up to work or not.Good prices on stuff if you're a customer.Terrible place to work."

"If you like to work for a place where your store manager does zero work yet takes all the credit. Big Lots is the place for you. They don't hire staff and expect management to work 14+ hours, some of which was off the clock. This was by far the worst place I have worked for. You can give your all and it will never be good enough. Our loss prevention manager and the DM came by when it was me and one other manager unloading a 2400 piece truck. When they asked our store manager where the crew was, he laughed stating this is the crew. This place is a joke. If you want to lose your mind and never fully be able to recover, this place is for you. I wish you luck. Pizza parties.Everything else."

"I could go on about how my former store manager cost me my home, or how I was terminated with balances in both sick and vacation days that still haven't paid out. Instead I will say after hardly surviving an emergency during the harshest time I've faced not a soul inside the store or all the way up the corporate ladder could even be bothered to tell me whether or not I had been let go, or my last second request for emergency leave had been granted. I worked 12 hours daily often times all 7 days"

"I ordered a mattress and box springs to be delivered. It’s been 3 days now that I have had to sit at home and wait. You call and get wrong information. I’m hoping the delivery person will be polite. Don’t take your bed apart until they arrive or you won’t have a bed!!!"

"Do not, I repeat, do not spend the money for the furniture protection warranty from Big Lots. The warranty company they use, Warrantech, has horrible overseas customer service and will find any excuse NOT to cover your damage. They are slow to respond to claims, if they respond at all, barely communicate about their findings and then find any excuse not to cover damage. I have what I consider accidental damage from a pet protection adhesive product I used on the arm of the sofa. They tell me the damage is not covered because it is "fading". It is not fading! Parts of the fabric were pulled off and are missing! I had to explictly ask for a supervisor to get a US based customer service rep that I could actually understand. DO NOT USE BIG LOTS OR BUY THEIR so-called "warranty"."

"Corporate is absolutely terrible, I purchased furniture and paid for the warranty to replace , brochure clearly states rips and tears, my initial claim was rejected, resent an email showing them their brochure and my rips at the seams which they have never responded back to , DO NOT BUY THE WARRANTY, they lie , even a local associate said you have to word it a special way or they will deny it , how do I word rips and tears that show shows pictures in the brochure.. $90 warranty flushed down the drain .. don’t buy in to their sales gimmick ..will never buy anything from them again ... Ollie’s is 1/4 Mile from them . See ya and I hope this Covid puts you out of business , I’m sure I’m not the only one , slow by slow you WILL LOSE CUSTOMERS DUE TO YOUR LIES , oh and the sectional I bought was a $1,000 piece of garbage, was used as a second couch so very little use ... JUNK LOTS ..."

"Never use online services they never have inventory updated they completely split up my sectional and recliner and had both at store when I tried to call online help to cancel so that I wouldn’t have to pay separate delivery they lied about canceling my order so all this time I put into trying to avoid a extra fee was for nothing at all. Today my sectional was delivered and I’ve heard nothing about my recliner. Big lots just drops the ball every time and currently my issue is still unresolved. 😩 I just want to scream, I’m so upset with online customer support they are not any type of help at all."

"First off let start off by saying I wouldn't recommend this Company to a Dog. I purchased a online order Nov. 21st in 2 parts I had a couple things shipped and also a in store pick up order, shortly after I placed the order I get a email stating that they cancelled my in store pick up due to the fact they were sold out of the items I purchased and will put my refund back on my card and here it is 17 days later I've yet to receive my refund and let me tell putting in a claim ain't worth a dam and their (Customer Service) only response is dispute it with my bank....like are you kidding me what kinda company would leave their consumers in limbo. This Company is a scam, just down right thieves they would never in life get another dime of my hard earned money and I will definitely spread the word BYER BEWARE!!!!!!"

"This online order with Big Lots was one of the WORST experiences of my life. First, after entering my order info my credit card was declined. Knowing I have excellant credit and zero balances on my cards I knew there had to be a problem with Big Lots website so I tried again...and again...and again. Wow! Suddenly my 850 credit score (yep, it's "perfect") and ability to charge a few hundred thousand dollars of merchandise if I wanted to meant nothing, at least to Big Lots! Not one of my credit cards would work. Getting concerned (like what the hell was going on with my credit cards) I called my credit card companies who promptly assured me there was nothing wrong with my credit. My one credit card company offered to call Big Lots for me. Together we waited online for Big Lots to answer their phone for nearly ONE HOUR (and this was after I already pissed away TWO HOURS online with this BIg Lots site). After we finally got through to a human being (who spoke very little of the AMERICAN LANGUAGE so this was just one more furstrating situation to deal with) the woman at Big Lots put my order in -- no apology, no offer of any compensation (like 10% off my order), NOTHING. I guess my time to Big Lots doesn;t mean crap. And I guess Big Lots doesn;t like to hire AMERICANS to answer their phones. So you know what? Screw Big Lots! I will NEVER shop at this foreign-friendly, ignorant company again and if you value AMERICA and AMERICAN VALUES, you shouldn't either!"

"James Ellis We are senior citizens that 15 months ago purchased the Granger grey recliner sofa and the loveseat. 3 months ago the springs on the center and left cushions broke . The sofa now feels as if you are seating on a wooden bench. Called the store manager and corporate office both said were SOOL:Sit out of luck. Because warranty of one year had passed and we should have purchased Big Lots extended warranty. I asked how can you sell furniture that falls apart shortly after one year and require customers to pay additional money for protection and warranty. Big Lots should be ashamed for selling such trash and more ashamed for not standing behind the product. TRASH TGBTG"

"I ordered this item on line on nov.29 at issaquah website,there are 4 available,few hrs. After I place my order I received an email that my order are getting prepared for pickup the next day,so asked my family to just stay and wait till I pick up my order so I don’t have mail it to them. I HAD TO CALL CORPORATE OFFICE OVER 10 TIMES, I TALKED TO A COUPLE WHICH WAS REALLY NICE BUT NOT THAT HELPFUL. GOING THROUGH HELL TRYING TO GET MY MONEY BACK. CLAIM # 201120- 001075 NOW I WAS SENT BACK TO MIKE THAT ASSURE ME IF I DIDN'T STEAL THE FURNITURE HE WILL REFUND ME MY MONEY. SO HE MADE A CALL TO MAKE SURE THE FURNITURE WAS THERE. WHILE I WAIT LOOKING AT HIM MAKE PHONE CALL. NOW THIS IS FULL-BLOWN RACIST. I'M NOT DONE THIS NEED TO STOP AND LET'S START WITH BIG LOTs. I GIVE THEM (0) WHY SHOP HERE IF THEY ARE ALLOWING PEOPLE LIKE THIS TO WORK FOR THEM. I TOLD EACH REP, I SPOKEN WITH I JUST HAD A BRAIN ANEURYSM. "I had their old card - never got anything from it at all. Have their new one now, but won't be shopping there. Their customer service can't even return a letter I wrote them with my old card so they could find out why I never received anything from it. The least they could have done was written a note saying "Sorry" back or something - they could care less. I think from September 23, 2020 they could have responded with something, but nope"

"The rewards program needs to come to an end , the managers harass employees to get people to sign up for rewards cards and if we don't get a lot they basically make us feel less and like "we're not trying" so the whole thing needs to stop. I understand why people quit and never come in to that job and when closing the store it makes not sense for there to be only two people closing ."

"I bought a sofa and love seat in February of 2019 and bought the 3 year warranty. I put in a claim because the board that goes across the front of the sofa came away from the side of the couch when my daughter sat down on it as is the intended use for a couch. My claim was denied and after talking to them just now I am told itn was denied because it was not an accident nobody ever tols me it was an accident insurance warranty. This is a load of crap. If someone accidental dropped something on it and it broke it would be covered. Who accidentallydrops something big enough on their furniture to break the board????. If you buy furniture from big lots don't waste your money buying the warranty because more than likely they will not cover the problem unless it's a rip, tear, burn mark or nail polish on the cushions. I believe this is just a rip off to get more money from you. I have bought other furniture from big lots with no problems but I will never buy from them again and I will be telling all my friends not to also"

"I just want to tell you call the store before you purchase something online. I made a purchase for furniture that the store did not have , online stated that there was 2 in stock and once I paid for my order it got canceled and now I had to wait 7 days to get my money back in my account. Big Lots needs to update there system. This is inconvenience to have me wait a whole week to get my money back. Now I have go somewhere to get my furniture and missed out on a good deal fooling with this place."
