A former employee angrily mentioned, "Favouritism rules at Zeno. Only people who spend time laughing and joking with current top management get ahead. In meetings and socially recently the male leadership in the region are always joking about or interrupting female colleagues in conversations."
Senior Vice President (Former Employee) says"In reviewing the benefits and flex time for the company prior to joining i felt really good about what the work/life balance would be. Boy was I wrong! While I can say that the teams know how to pitch media and get some great results, the overall creative strategy is lacking and hours worked are insane- legitimately not sustainable. Cons: If you like to work 24/7 this is the place for you"
Senior Account Executive, Digital (Former Employee) says"Overall, an amazing place to work that really supports junior employees choosing their own path. If you have ambition, you will do well. That being said, the work life balance is nonexistent... but probably better than most other agencies out there. If you're going to do an agency, Zeno is the best of the best."
Assistant Account Executive (Current Employee) says"Zeno is a good company, I enjoyed the day to day team I worked with however the junior level employees are overworked while the senior level employees are promoted frequently."
Former Employee - Upper Management says"I worked at Zeno Group full-time for more than 3 years Cons: Zero trust among employees and ridiculous working hours including weekends so don’t think about having a life outside of work."
Former Employee - Project Manager says"I worked at Zeno Group full-time for less than a year Cons: Lack of interest in employees and their professional development, toxic work environment (extremely inappropriate behavior for adults), very ego driven company"
Former Employee - N/A says"I worked at Zeno Group full-time Cons: Awful people, awful culture of distrust and poor management"
Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says"I worked at Zeno Group full-time for more than 3 years Cons: This place has no redeeming qualities. There’s no work life balance and no mentorship – I basically had to teach myself everything at a very junior level because upper management was so terrible. They’re also abysmal at promoting people in a timely fashion and stingy with bonuses, which is clearly exhibited by the massive turnover rate they've seen over the past few years. I would never recommend this place to anyone unless they truly hated themselves."
Former Employee - Account Executive says"I worked at Zeno Group full-time for less than a year Cons: Within the first week I knew this was a toxic workplace. I was continuously told I wasn't good enough, and management between offices seemed to have a hard time agreeing on decisions. Work life balance was basically non-existent and the below-average pay did not help. I took this job because as an outsider, it looked like a great opportunity to expand my skills and learn. But once inside it was clear that you need to fit in with certain clicks if you want to get away from busy work. It's not worth your mental health. I woke up one day knowing that I could no go in anymore and be emotionally disrespected. Took a few months to get back on my feet and recover from my experience at Zeno. It's not worth risking your mental health for a job. When I was leaving and had my exit interview, I told the HR specialist about some concerning experiences, to which they simply replied by saying that maybe I took things the wrong way."
Former Employee - SAE says"I worked at Zeno Group full-time for less than a year Cons: The minimal pros aside - wow. I was in and out of this place in three months. They recruited me out of my old agency to specialize in a specific marketing area, boasting their work life balance and trust in my experience. Within the first week I knew this place wasn't for me. Besides the fact that I was quickly beaten over the head about who to hate based on how people voted in elections (hello - HR?), I was doing nothing my previous six years indicated I had experience in. I received zero training outside of the HR orientation. It was either immediately familiarize myself with the 1000 nuances of operating in my department or be reprimanded. Felt very much like I was brought in to be a scapegoat. There was a million and one tasks to be done with no work life balance at all, no accountability plans in place due to minimal staff and low bandwidth, and when things eventually slipped through the cracks, they were outraged. Never got a second of encouragement or protection from HR. It's a cliquey cesspool of pettiness. Stay far, far away. It might have a shiny coat of paint slapped on it, but this is an agency through and through."
Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says"I worked at Zeno Group full-time for less than a year Cons: Zeno overworks their employees like no other. They do not care about you personally. They will not make you feel valued, you will work day and night and never hear a simple 'thank you' even when you go above and beyond. You will not have a voice if you are not a senior employee- title is everything here. New business is the priority meanwhile the employees struggle to keep up with existing client work. Pay is low. No work/ life balance whatsoever. If you enjoy being stressed to the max, never not working, encouraged not to take PTO and only see co-workers and never family/friends then this is the place for you."
Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says"I worked at Zeno Group full-time for more than 3 years Cons: management is difficult to work with and don't listen. Back stabbing and unfriendly work environment if you're not part of the click. I thought my high school days were over but I guess not."
Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says"I worked at Zeno Group full-time Cons: POC do not be fooled. This is not the place for you. You have been warned. Do not let the HR rep fool you."
Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says"I worked at Zeno Group full-time Cons: This is a company with no integrity whatsoever. You get by if you brown nose the right people. Extremely catty and gossipy environment. No transparency at the company whatsoever. Constantly losing clients and pitching new business but never winning. If you're stuck with a bad manager or a manager that does not care about your growth, you will have zero growth opportunities and your potential will never be seen. Most managers are selfish or too junior to manage. Almost no diversity at the company and no efforts in diversity and inclusion. If something goes wrong with a client, there will be lots of finger pointing so the blame isn't put on the people that are well-liked. No efforts to improve lack of company culture. Cockroaches in the kitchen and bathrooms are a regular occurrence."
