Hormel Foods Corporation is an American company founded in 1891 in Austin, Minnesota, by George A. Hormel as George A. Hormel & Company. Originally focusing on the packaging and selling of ham, Spam, sausage, and other pork, chicken, beef, and lamb products to consumers; by the 1980s, Hormel began offering a wider range of packaged and refrigerated foods. The company changed its name to Hormel Foods in 1993. Hormel serves 80 countries with brands such as Applegate, Columbus Craft Meats, Dinty Moore, Jennie-O, and Skippy.

A former line/worker packer from Knoxville, IA shares some thoughts about working for Hormel Foods in a review posted by INDEED: "Management is not supportive of all policies and even seeks out ways to cheat safety. food safety and real productivity numbers. When members of management try to do the right thing, they are often not supported by other management if it's hard or will slow down production. Very high turn over rate and they are always short-staffed. Very long hours and numerous consecutive days of work are expected. The Friday before you are told you have to be at work Saturday so you can not make plans. Extremely weak human resources. They often cater to toxic employees to keep them happy instead of addressing them and making it better for everyone."
