WellPet Sucks Customer Reviews and Feedback

From Everything.Sucks

WellPet LLC is a pet food company formed by the combination of Wellness Natural Pet Food, Holistic Select Natural Pet Food, Eagle Pack Natural Pet Food and Old Mother Hubbard Natural Dog Snacks, purchased by Berwind Corporation. WellPet is headquartered outside of Boston, in Tewksbury, Massachusetts.

A former employee of many years shares his disappointing experience on indeed.com, "After working for 10 years at what is now, Well Pet LLC, the company became frustrating and unbearable. A job that was challenging, rewarding and enjoyable to go to everyday because you knew you were contributing to the company's vision, became clouded. Senior executive management who could not keep their arrogance in check and or believe in the employees that had been assembled and were responsible for managing the company's exceptional growth of the previous 7 years, has had a negative affect. The manaement style and pettiness of senior management drove personel changes just for the sake of change. This led to and has continued to lead to an exodus of many extremely qualified and capable and proven employees and managers over the past 2 years. Well Pet LLC and in its earlier forms (Old Mother Hubbard & Wellness Natural Pet Food) was always a great place with regards to compensation and benefits. Early on family and work balance was always taken into consideration and was a tangible quality of the company. Over the past 2 years that has not been the case and which seemed to exacerbate when the HR department became managed by th CFO. The employees, mid level managers, senior managers and some of the executive management team understood these things and what was happening. Unfortunately, this is a good company gone bad from an employee relations perspective."

AP/AR Manager (Former Employee) says

"WellPet is a growing organization facing growing pains, many of their roles need 1.5-1.8 employees but their budget only allows staffing for 1 FTE. Hopefully, they'll figure out sooner rather than later to increase their headcount to accommodate growth rather than cutting costs and "requesting" their employees work nights and weekends consistently. Cons: Work life balance"

Packaging Tech (Former Employee) says

"I worked very hard at wellpet and missed a weekend due to the fact that everyone else stayed home for 2 weeks while being a temp they didn't tell me too , so I felt under appreciated. Then they let me go"

Brand Manager (Former Employee) says

"WellPet used to be a great place to work. Recent management has driven the company to lack focus, make decisions that are not productive for long term health, and have made it clear that short term goals are their strategy to make monthly numbers and ensure their quarterly bonuses. Ignorance of the employees who are actually doing the work paired with not listening to their ideas and thoughts on how to make the company successful again have caused much strife. In the past I would recommend as a good company to work for, but not presently."

Quality Assurance Laboratory Technician (Current Employee) says

"12 hr shifts and work every other weekend. If you work the night shift, there is very poor communication from management (they all work on days only, you will never see them)."

Sales Operations (Former Employee) says

"An employer is only as good as your own boss. Find a boss who will stand up for you and you're golden. But if your boss is inept, your days will be long. Even if you have all the dog food you can eat. Cons: Inept managers"

REGIONAL SALES MANAGER / TERRITORY MANAGER (Former Employee) says

"Two good companies, Wellness and Eagle Pack were bought and merged into one larger company. In the merger both companies lost their idenity."

Sales and Marketing (Former Employee) says

"High quality brand and dedicated team. Frequent restructuring and change, with limited room for advancement. Many dedicated and highly qualified candidates over looked for external hires. Work life balance is not a realistic expectation."

Process Technician (Former Employee) says

"never had to worry about loosing my job here so if your looking for job security then this is a good choice. Other then that all I can say is just like anywhere you got to take the bad with the good."
