Sales Assistant (Former Employee) says

"very slow and boring"

Productive Manager (Former Employee) says

"The company was not organized financially. I had to take a pay cut based on what they could afford rather than my performance."

Sales Associate (Former Employee) says

"This business is closed. Need to be knowledgeable with a cash register and opening and closing procedures. Need to know the proper procedure for dropping off closing balance at bank. Cons: Non- existent breaks, no healthcare"

Beauty Adviser/Keyholder (Former Employee) says

"It is a salon full of girls who seem to let the boss do all the work. Sales Associates doing people's hair for free out of the salon, Too many employees there for any of them to get hours, except the one that had seniority, though she plainly announced that she doesn't have to do anything, ever. And I personally quit because when it was the particular girl's turn to work, she didn't do what she was expected, and blamed it on myself, though i hadn't worked in over a week. In other words, drama fueled gossip. Not a place to work if you want to get ahead in life. Changed my mind on going to beauty school, as well. Cons: drama, lazy employees, boss who is never present, favoritism, etc."

Store Manager (Former Employee) says

"A typical day would involve greeting customers directly and finding out what their personal needs were. Listening to what the customer was looking for and providing a solution to their needs. I learned to listen to every individual and carefully evaluate what they wanted or needed. The most enjoyable part of the job was making sure the customers were happy and receiving positive feedback from them. I learned that some employees do not take their job seriously. The hardest part of the job was getting the company to send the products. Cons: no breaks and working alone until late in the day."

Beauty Advisor/Stylist (Former Employee) says

"I only worked here for about a year, right out of cosmetology school. To say the least, I was only able to actually do hair maybe one of my 4 weekly shifts because the store side was so understaffed that i would have to be running register all day. They closed shortly after I resigned, so I guess it doesn't really matter"

Beauty Advisor (Former Employee) says

"I loved loved LOVED my job. You always worked alone and the day went by so fast. I ended up calling in sick one day and she approved, but than later said she never knew. She was a good manager and super nice, but for her age and the experience she had, I don't believe she was the right candidate when she got hired two months ago. Cons: Hourly pay, benefits, hours"

hairstylist (Former Employee) says

"They changed Cons: no insurance, no security, no incintive"

Receptionist/Administrative Assistant (Former Employee) says

"No longer open. But pay wasn't good, hours, did deposits by myself at night.. Overall was an easy job but no room to advance Cons: pay, hours, location"

Press feeder (Current Employee) says

"Unhealthy work environment. Employees are not respected as human beings. Subverts employment laws with no regard for human rights. Not a place I would recommend working at"

Stylist (Former Employee) says

"The best part of working at Trade Secret were by far the customers that I dealt with on a regular basis. A lot of them became close friends that I kept in contact with for a while after I left the salon business. The worst parts of that job were the management and other stylists. I felt constantly critiqued and looked down upon because I did not share their personal life style. I was even more disappointed in the job to see business being conducted unfairly and unlawfully as where the managing stylist was using salon equipment and supplies on family and friends to be paid off the books and into her own wallet. Dishonesty is the worst in a work place. Cons: horrible boss"

Hair Stylist (Former Employee) says

"i was unhappy here due to pay and my hours being cut from 40 to 25 and with travel cost i could not afford to carry on working there and to perfectly honest i felt there was some hostility held towards me from some of my co workers because i took over from someone who had been there for a number of years and she was moved to another salon when i started and i think they blamed me i also felt misled in regards to my hours at the salon Cons: Bad Pay, Hours being cut, horrible co workers"

Hair Stylist (Former Employee) says

"too much pressure on retail. no benefits to speak of and no opportunities for advancement. too focused on product knowledge rather than hair"

Beauty Advisor (Former Employee) says

"great salon to work for"

Retail assistant (Former Employee) says

"A day at work was really long and often tedious and boring. The co-workers were really nice and helpful. I loved working Thursday nights. The hardest part was having constant change in managers. Cons: long hours, inconsistent hours, too many mangers in a short time"

Hair Stylist (Former Employee) says

"Not too bad the pay is really low but it’s ok for those who just started working as a stylist depend on the location tho some locations are better than other but overall it’s meh"

Cashier/Customer Service (Former Employee) says

"This company is no longer in business. But it was a great place to go and shop for hair products and beauty products there was a big variety and reasonable prices"

Customer service and educating (Former Employee) says

"This company was a conglomerate of Regis corp.and was sold to a separate entity. Trade Secret was a retail based company and was primarily a beauty supply . they had a small work area for stylists. Most of the customers did not know the salon area existed because it was tucked in the back of the store Cons: bankruptcy"

"Was a great place to work until they filed bankruptcy and sold the company. New owners gave us a beautiful remodel and after closed all Trade Secrets within 2 years. The name Trade Secret no longer exists."

Former Employee - General Manager says

"I worked at Trade Secret full-time for more than a year Cons: Management was very hard on my location. The company is constantly in bankruptcy and closing locations so do not work here because you will not have job security. Management will not tell you when your store will close. You will come to work and the doors will be locked. I have seen this happen with 3 locations."

Former Employee - Beauty Advisor says

"I worked at Trade Secret part-time for less than a year Cons: Management was crappppppy Talked down to employees, wouldn't promote from within"
