Toshiba Sucks Customer Reviews and Feedback

From Everything.Sucks

Toshiba Corporation (株式会社東芝, Kabushiki gaisha Tōshiba, English: ) is a Japanese multinational conglomerate headquartered in Minato, Tokyo. Its diversified products and services include power, industrial and social infrastructure systems, elevators and escalators, electronic components, semiconductors, hard disk drives, printers, batteries, lighting, logistics, as well as IT solutions such as quantum cryptography. It had been one of the biggest manufacturers of personal computers, consumer electronics, home appliances, and medical equipment. As a semiconductor company and the inventor of flash memory, Toshiba had been one of top 10 in the chip industry until the late 2010s, when it was spun off as Kioxia, to save Toshiba from bankruptcy.

James shared his experience, "Toshiba ads appear 100% of time on side of TV screen. I spoke to someone at tech support at Toshiba. It ran an ad about 20% wide and vertically on the left side of the TV screen - then every 15 seconds, it switched to the other side - and back and forth. The tech did NOT help me as to removing the continuous ad. It was and still is VERY ANNOYING while watching a TV program. I asked to speak to his supervisor. He said, "One moment, please." I was on-hold for 38 minutes and then got the dial tone. This was totally unacceptable. I will NEVER deal with Toshiba again."

Current Employee - Design Engineer II says

"Overall: Please Please don't look at 3.6 overall rating since Toshiba has different offices in different sectors across USA. This review is specifically for Toshiba International Corporation located in Houston, TX. Please stay away if you are in your early or mid stage in your career and still care for your career progression. But this is a perfect company if you are about to retire or good at playing politics since there is no real work to do at all. Toshiba international has a wide range of products from ASD, UPS, motors and battery systems. Right now they are only living on selling battery systems and products from Japan. None of the products designed in Houston, TX are selling. - Management: Lazy and incapable managers who are incapable of identifying tasks need to be done for a new project. Manager in key department has zero technical knowledge of their products - not even the basics of electrical and software engineering for their product, and this is leading to significant delay of their "life saving" new product. And manager is not aware of their structural problems due to the lack of technical knowledge and more sadly they are not willing to pay for technical training programs that the team is in urgent need for regardless what company policies are. - Culture: Some people here work for keeping their job safe. Some people here work for gaining more power. But nobody cares about employees and their products. Lies after lies. Engineers are commonly tired of political games and toxic atmosphere. Career progression - No career progression. 1. You don't learn anything since there is no work or all the work is highly repetitive because of intensive office politics. 2. Managers are incapable of leading a department in a right direction. 3. Managers don't care if you learn anything and don't promote fairly."

Former Employee - Engineer says

"No room for growth. No communication within department. No clear vision. Equipment outdated."

Current Employee - ERP Analyst says

"The middle tier management is superannuated. The managers makes the environment more challenging with their 30 years old theories. It is common in all departments."

Current Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"Poor Senior Management Leadership skills"

Intern says

"Bad Management. Less Compensation. No Cafe."

Material Handler (Current Employee) says

"Toshiba, does not give raises. They make good money, low pay, no raise for warehouse employees. Promotion at the top of corporate. They do not care, nor are they concerned about the hard working employees they have. Turn over rate very high. I would not recommend this job to no one. Cons: No pay raises"

Production Operator (Former Employee) says

"toshiba is a manufacturing company, producing information equipment, while working in toshiba i find a hard time to manage my income, because the salary is very low, and most of the superiors and leaders are terror and no consideration for their fellow men. Cons: long hours"

vendeur (Former Employee) says

"ZERO communication Cons: management"

Material Handler (Former Employee) says

"The management isn't based off skill level, but instead promotions are given based on who you know. The company is going down. There isn't any real advancement opportunities. They never fire anyone even those who directly say they will not do certain work. The only time they let go of anyone is when they have layoffs and even then they let go of good people. Horrible pay. My supervisor was there for 20 years and was still punching the clock which meant he is making less than 50k a year even after 20 years of service. I do not recommend this company at all. Cons: Pay, Management, Work"

Field Service Technician (Former Employee) says

"drove to different locations to service clients who had hardware issues as well as maintaining relationships with clients."

Project Manager, Project Management Team (Current Employee) says

"You will be overworked and underpaid. Very high stress environment not a good place for moms to work for. Recently changed over to Oracle systems and the stress has caused so many nervous breakdowns it is ridiculous"

Alternance assistant comptable (Former Employee) says

Cons: Aucun avantage"

Administratif (Former Employee) says

"Aucunes reconnaissances - Tout pour les grosses têtes et rien pour les petites mains. Pression et salaire de misère juste le minimum !!"

Professional (Former Employee) says

"Toshiba used to be a great company to work for several years ago when sales were at a high point. However, constant layoffs and budget cuts have completely killed the morale of the company. There is no room for advancement in this company. I have colleagues who have worked here for near 10 years without any promotion. I have also known contractors who have busted their butts off for 5-10+ years and not been hired on as full time as well. Who wants to work for a company that does not show the same loyalty? As far as compensation is concerned, management looks out for themselves first and their employees last."

Field Service Technician (Former Employee) says

"Forget about advancement. They don’t train you on machines but expect you to know everything. You get written up if you have too many call backs, but don’t care if you are trained on machines. Cons: Low pay, bad management and very little training."

IT Technician,Field Tech (Current Employee) says

"I take care of several hundred printing devices at a major hospital. Cons: no raises"

Sid says

"Toshiba do not stand by their own manufacturing defects in their products. Their TV's are complete rubbish! The EPG takes nearly 5 minutes to boot up to display programs and schedules. The remote control output is not received and actioned by the TV for nearly 5 seconds after pressing the buttons on the remote. Clearly these and firmware issues that Toshiba will not take ownership for and want to charge for call out and repair! Save your money and buy a Sony, LG or Samsung instead. At least they work and are much better quality. Plus they understand customer service if their products have a problem! Poor show Toshiba, hence why so many customer are complaining about your company and products!"

Melissa Sanford says

"I bought a Toshiba Fire TV in July of 2019 from BestBuy via Amazon. It worked great at first. I did not use very much but I loved the apps. I barely watch TV in my bedroom but one day (In October 2019) I wanted to listen to music. The TV would not connect to the amazon cloud service. I tried everything and nothing worked. I called the support line and they tried a few things to have me to reset the remote. They did not work. I was then told to contact Best Buy’s Geek Squad. I was given a service appointment 2 weeks later. So to save time I will summarize my service experience below from October 2019 thru June 2020. Service Tech 1 – Technician looked at TV, Ordered several parts (Bluetooth piece and main board). I had to wait 2 weeks to get another apt and he came back to install. TV worked that day, then did the same thing again. Service Tech 2 (same gentle from 1st service apt)- Confirmed TV was still not working. Ordered same parts again. I had to wait 2 weeks to get another apt and he came back to install. TV worked that day, then did the same thing again. Service Tech 3 - Confirmed TV was still not working. Ordered same parts again. I had to wait 2 weeks to get another apt and he came back to install. TV worked that day, then did the same thing again. Service Tech 4 - Confirmed TV was still not working. Ordered same parts again. I had to wait 2 weeks to get another apt and he came back to install. TV worked that day, then did the same thing again. Service Tech 5 - Confirmed TV was still not working. Ordered same parts again. I had to wait 2 weeks to get another apt and he came back to install. TV worked that day, then did the same thing again. Service Tech 6 - Confirmed TV was still not working. Ordered same parts again. I had to wait 2 weeks to get another apt and he came back to install. TV worked that day, then did the same thing again. Service Tech 7 - Confirmed TV was still not working. Ordered same parts again BUT also ordered new remote! I had to wait 2 weeks to get another apt and he came back to install. TV worked that day, then did the same thing again later the next day. At this point I requested a manager call me. This TV is clearly a lemon. Although under the factory warranty, BestBuy can only replace parts. Over and over and over…..until the warranty runs out. TOSHIBA WILL NOT AUTHORIZE A REPLACEMENT OF THIS TV ALTHOUGH IT IS A LEMON. Now, I am still without a TV and out of my $200! SMH. Only if YOU BUY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY will BestBuy replace the TV. This is THE WORST CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE I have every had with an electronic device. For a company to not stand behind there product after purchase is unethical. I will never purchase this brand again! I also must say that BestBuy is the service contractor to repair this TV and it is clear they do not know how. They just order parts and charge Toshiba over and over to cover their Technician fees but that does nothing for the customer."

Mark says

"I bought a Toshiba SSD which worked fine until a power cut occurred, the security lock came into force and I cannot remove it. after repeated emails to @"customer services " no reply. I have bought a lot of Toshiba products in the past and having this poor Toshiba customer serices worries me and I will probebly look elsewhere. Devcent ssd but no aftercare. M Ladyman"

An@ says

"I am trying to contact Toshiba to download a driver that does not exist on its website for my laptop model, something that I do not already explain beforehand. I can't get in touch with any human being. And I, as a human being that I am, have already made the decision not to buy any product of this company again 😤"

Stuff says

"I wish I could rate Toshiba 0 stars. First of all, the technology inside is complete trash for what you pay. And after about 2 years of using a toshiba laptop, it would sometime take up to 40 seconds just to load chrome and I even Overclocked the Processor! Another thing that makes toshiba laptops horrible is their setup utility. The setup utility replaces the bios that lets you control all the hardware, to something that just barely touches the hard drive. One final thing about toshiba is that they put sooo much money on something, it makes it worse. What I mean by this is that I have a toshiba satellite e45w-c42000X that has a mic that is WAYYY too over sensitive. To see what I'm talking about, my friends and I used to play Fortnite on PC. I could barelly play because of all the garbage in the laptop and when I would plug my Xbox controller in, my friends could here me push every button I press, even if I just barelly tap it."

David says

"spent 14 hours over 2 days with their support 888-933-0322 and after paying $69.95 they completely miss diagnosed my keyboard problems as a hardware problem and contact service center to replace keyboard. They also provided a part #, After a 2minute call to a service center they said to power down the computer pull battery and reinstall and reboot. Wow, keyboard is fully functional. THEY WILL NOT REFUND MY $$$> Good bye Toshiba!"

Henry says

"Service was so bad I don’t even know what to say, purchased a really nice box to ship in to fix a hard drive over heating problem for a brand new laptop. Got back a laptop wrapped in a plastic bag in a giant box. The sheet that came back with it showed they “replaced” lots of components. The problem was not fixed and now the laptop won’t even turn on sometimes, I just gave since maybe next time it will only come back with the screen😂. So I guess I have a really nice brand new laptop to look at. Thanks Toshiba?"

Srb says

"I have a toshiba satellite laptop that is the worst electronic product i have ever owned. I never seen a computer do so many updates and take hours and yes hours to update. If the computer was not new i would throw it in the trash compactor!"

Harold Brown says

"Beware of Toshiba tech support. On Friday April 4 my Toshiba laptop would not connect to my network although three other non-Toshiba devices connected as they always had. A call to Toshiba technical support resulted in a $199.99 charge and around an hour of fiddling with both my laptop and modem by two technicians, including a senior technician. When they were done none of my devices would connect to the network and I had been provided with an incorrect diagnosis: that the wifi radio was turned off. Fortunately, a technician at my ISP was able to undo the damage and fix the original problem in about five minutes. It is too bad that I paid for annual support since I will throw the laptop in the trash before I let Toshiba technicians near it again."

Izak says

"Don't buy Toshiba laptop. They are probably the worst. A 2000% last only a year. Is that normal that they can't even repair it? Just useless laptop"

Mary says

"I called Toshiba customer support today to get help attaching an external hard drive to my laptop (both Toshiba) through an SATA usb bridge. They knew absolutely nothing. The support page had the latest update to usb drivers but the link was broken. They sent me to computers and then to hard drives and no one knew a thing. They were rude and also asked for $20 bucks for wasting 20 minutes of my time ......are you kidding? And yes Toshiba is outsourcing...... But I don't hold that against a support person ....but Toshiba is outsourcing to people who don't know anything and can't answer any questions. I will NEVER buy from them again."

Joan Reyes says

"I have Toshiba Laptop since 2012. It's working just fine but lately I had some trouble using it. When I use it, it turns off suddenly and the battery is easily drained."
