Sigur Rós (Icelandic pronunciation: [ˈsɪːɣ̞ʏɾ ˌroːus] (listen)) is an Icelandic post-rock band from Reykjavík, active since 1994. Known for their ethereal sound, frontman Jónsi's falsetto vocals, and their use of bowed guitar, the band's music incorporates classical and minimal aesthetic elements.
Back in October 2002 SPLENDID MAGAZINE wrote some comments about Sigur Rós: An overblown, overhyped dreamy swirl of sound that can't commit itself to be anything.
