Shell Sucks Customer Reviews and Feedback

From Everything.Sucks

Royal Dutch Shell PLC, commonly known as Shell, is a British-Dutch multinational oil and gas company headquartered in the Netherlands and incorporated in England. It is one of the oil and gas "supermajors" and the third-largest company in the world measured by 2018 revenues (and the largest based in Europe). In the 2019 Forbes Global 2000, Shell was ranked as the ninth-largest company in the world (and the largest outside China and the United States), and the largest energy company. Shell was first in the 2013 Fortune Global 500 list of the world's largest companies; in that year its revenues were equivalent to 84% of the Dutch national $556 billion GDP.

A former employee believes it's an equal opportunity company for the Dutch and English only, saying "This [Shell} is a company for and run by graduates. Now graduates are species that are born in shell and die in Shell, because nobody outside takes them. If you are capable then please don't stay here for long else u will rust. Here they have copied all the nice things from other companies like "feel free to speak your mind" but if you do you will be tortured. Because the company runs on the philosophy steal with pride which means if you are an innovator they will steal your idea and dump you in garbage. Because people have stayed here for so long they have no idea about ways of working in the market that even when senior people from outside are hired their thinking ability is killed. In fact the company is struggling to implement workday its been years and leaders only extend deadline. I guess workday should publish a case study on shell for how long it is taking and there are many examples. The europeans treat employees like slaves ..they do this very your existence in shell depends on your counties Oh my god ...I spend some of the worst years of my career here thank god i am out of this silent hell called Shell."

Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) says

"Loved working there for about a year until new management took over! When management switched over we were given the option to stay... new management was woefully unprepared to take over, new store managers that were put in place had little to no experience. Favouritism was very apparent. Some employees who called in sick had hours cut, whereas people that were friends with new management would no-show and not face any repercussions."

Manager (Former Employee) says

"Poor company to work for. Treated like a number not a human being so 15k for a manager doing 60 hours a week is POOR. The turnover in staff is quite extraordinary people start and then think nope i dont want this rubbish job rubbish people except 1 or 2 but as a whole poor company"

"Owner inappropriately harasses the workers. Underage workers are not safe from customers, or owner's, harassment. Very cliquey workplace with poor leadership and training."

Current Employee - Senior Mechanical Engineer says

"I have been working at Shell full-time for more than 5 years Cons: Work life balance is non existent at a refinery/chemical plant. Been with Shell for 7 years and went thru 3 reorg/layoffs already. Seems like the industry growth isn’t just slowing, it’s contracting. Management decision is very slow. They seem to have lofty goals but doesn’t really accomplish them. More and more I feel like management is trying to push more and more site wide initiatives onto individual contributors which is frustrating because individual contributors don’t have the same pull as a manager or senior manager. Constantly in meetings that feel like nothing is accomplished and no value is added."
