STM Sucks Customer Reviews and Feedback

From Everything.Sucks

The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) is a public transport agency that operates transit bus and rapid transit services in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Established in 1861 as the "Montreal City Passenger Railway Company", it has grown to comprise four subway lines with a total of 68 stations, as well as over 186 bus routes and 23 night routes. The STM was created in 2002 to replace the Société de transport de la communauté urbaine de Montréal (STCUM). The STM operates the most heavily used urban mass transit system in Canada, and one of the most heavily used rapid transit systems in North America. As of 2011, the average daily ridership is 2,524,500 passengers: 1,403,700 by bus, 1,111,700 by rapid transit and 9,200 by paratransit service.

A current anonymous STM employee discusses the downsides of working for the company on the "Glassdoor" website on January 24, 2018:

"The STM is a semi public company where customer complaints should not be dealt with in the same way that they are by private companies where the customers are the lifeblood of the company. It is unthinkable that as soon as you get a complaint you also get suspended, regardless of both the complaint and what you have to say for your defense. You pretty much play your job on a daily basis because you never know what any new day is going to bring forth. I would advise anyone who wants to join the STM as a bus driver to think twice before making such a move. It would benefit such a person better to go spend a year in trade school and come out of it with a skilled trade than to drive for the STM. What is going to happen is that eventually you're going to be at the STM's mercy without the possibility of going anywhere else because you don't have a trade. You have nothing and you are nothing, so to speak. Take note of my advice: DO NOT FORFEIT YOUR WHOLE LIFE FOR ONE JOB. You will be so, so sorry and you won't be able to quit and do something else that will pay you as much in the private sector. However, if you want to drink your wine and cry yourself to sleep every night, then apply now and knock yourself out. You guys have a great day."
