Nielsen Sucks Customer Reviews and Feedback
Nielsen Holdings PLC (formerly known as Nielsen N.V.) is an American information, data and measurement firm. Nielsen operates in over 100 countries and employs approximately 44,000 people worldwide.
A former employee said this in a review: "Working at Nielsen does not give you more knowledge or more experience. It's a bad place to work".
Current Employee - Senior Vice President Sales says"Executive culture is toxic, major turnover with top talent leaving over last 3 years, lack of consistent direction - mission and vision changes every 12-18 months. Broad confusion and uncertainty in lower ranks."
Current Employee - Vice President, Client Success says"Nielsen continues to try to position itself for the split of its media and connect businesses and is undergoing yet another round of layoffs in the process. Open roles aren’t being filled, promotions have been postponed indefinitely, associates are expected to cover for people who have been let go. All this continued change is leading to overworked teams and disgruntled clients."
Former Employee - Lead Data Scientist says"Horrible management promotes only young"
Former Employee - Senior Data Scientist says"1. Some people I worked with are clueless. Never know what the product is about and never bother to learn 2. From the latest NYT piece DK wants to turn offices into meeting places. For those paying big bucks for a shoebox apartment that's a really thoughtful decision. 3. WLB towards L, not W 4. Middle management tends to be clueless. I've seen people not knowing any ML leading a team of MLEs 5. The love of using whatever buzzwords DK uses. Eg. "AI". Keeping saying AI won't make this company an AI company. 6. Salary way below average (check Glassdoor before you accept an offer) 7. Minimal upward mobility 8. Currently not doing so well and there are waves of furloughs and layoffs"
Former Employee - Client Manager says"What is ultimately rewarded is ability to imitate the work of others. Senior leadership rewards and promotes those who can mimic their work style but not necessarily those who can manage or think strategically. This will continue to affect Nielsen negatively as their CPG clients are getting smarter. Hiring data scientists and want people who can think strategically and not just execute. Best to avoid unless your goal is to stay for a year or two to put a somewhat known name on your resume. Culture is extremely negative and turnover is incredibly high. Many have one foot out the door."
Current Employee - Membership Representative says"As we closely monitor the spread of COVID-19 and its impact on communities across the globe, our hearts go out to all those who have been affected. Our number one priority is protecting the health and well-being of our employees. We suspended all in-person visits to homes until we believe it is safe to resume in-person visits. In these uncertain times, all of us at Nielsen are reminded of our responsibility to do what we can to help prevent the spread of the virus."
Former Employee - Research Interviewer says"Its wasnt for me. Randomly calling citizens to do surveys."
Current Employee - Membership Representative says"This is NOT a safe job. Going to people’s homes in the middle of nowhere by yourself is not safe for anyone and especially not for women. I don’t know why they send reps to people’s homes AND CONTINUE to send them to homes that have refused to participate every 6 months. I’ve been told by many reps that they have been assaulted, bit by dogs and HAD GUNS PULLED ON THEM. The risks of being kidnapped, injured or killed on the job are not worth it."
Recruiter (Current Employee) says"Nielsen staff is unprofessional! Management show favoritism towards the company's tokens! If you're meeting your quota, management will let you slide with practically anything. It's hard to advance and excel when the leadership team disrespect RI's and Recruiters. Nielsen management team speak to the associates as if we were untrained animals! Management have inappropriate relationships with RI's.Thank you for sharing your feedback. Continual employee feedback only helps our organization get stronger and become an even better place to work. We are disappointed to hear that you’re not having a great experience with us. We encourage you to address your concerns with your Site Leader or HR Business Partner, if you haven’t already."
Nielsen Representative (Current Employee) says"You may want to beware of the internal challenges in the company. The area Management favors the local help rather than to truly qualify the candidate for a promotion."
Researcher/coding (Former Employee) says"Team leaders were extremely strict and on a power trip. You show up for work and they send you home for lack of work. The regional manager did not show interest in the people. She had a very standoffish attitude and showed no interest in the work.No ProsNot a happy placeThank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. We are disappointed to hear that you didn't have a great experience with your manager. We believe that strong leaders are essential in helping our clients and our business grow. We will take your feedback into consideration as we continue to work on creating the best working environment for everyone."
Membership Representative (Former Employee) says"The hours are horrible; you are required to work evenings and weekends. The work that you get assigned is most likely old addresses which are just getting recycle back into the system for the next new group of test dummies. We are disappointed to hear you did not have a positive Nielsen experience and appreciate the feedback as it allows us the opportunity to improve, evolve and grow. The Membership Representative role is not for everyone, but it is the right role for the right person. The role requires evening and occasional weekend hours as those hours are when we are best able to connect with prospective panelists."
Director (Former Employee) says"Avoid this firm at all costs. Top management were always threatening to fire people (publicly) so this did not create a very fun place to work at. Also the work life balance was terrible as they expected you to stay back and work long hours day after day. Also at the Xmas party they ran out of beer after about 15mins, which sums up their lack of interest in supporting the people."
Bangalore as a SEO ANALYST (Former Employee) says"more peoples is there to intract Job Work/Life Balance Salary/Benefits Job Security/Advancement Management Job Culture everything is zero What is the policy regarding paid leave casual leave sick leave medical insurance and Ltd benefits to the employees? zero"
Membership Rep (Former Employee) says"I worked here a year and a half. Neilsen is owned by stock holders who meet to discuss how they can put more money in their pockets, so they always want to pay you less. That said, Nielsen does not care about their employees at all. They care about stock holders and clients and nobody else. Nielsen pays far below the market, so they can not afford to hire smart managers, they get low hanging fruit for both lower and upper management. I often laughed out loud at the decisions they made! Even if you are one of the best, they do not protect you or give you enough work so you will not make any money or bonuses. They have people come from all around the country to help and they give those visiting workers priority and don't care about their own local reps. It was the hardest job I ever had and I was good at it. But nobody noticed or cared, because they expected you to make miracles out of their bad decisions - squeeze bllod out of a rock. They blame you for everything the company does wrong. If the sky is not blue enoughm, it will be your fault. They expect you to take calls all times of night and day, morning meetings and work until 9 or 10 pm and jump when they say "how high". Management is ignorant, low pay. zero work-life balance, and nobody cares about employees, you are a number, and they think, "easily replaced". They will not value you. /they use you up.Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. We understand that a healthy work-life balance is essential to the success of our associates, and we strive to maintain a culture that values people’s overall well-being. We are disappointed to hear that this was not your experience. We will take your feedback into consideration as we continue to work on creating the best working environment for everyone."
Sales Representative (Former Employee) says"Just Run. FAST! It is not necessary to write 150 words. This is a horrible job. They have horriblee managers and upper management and HR are all awful. Just run. Really. There is always room for improvement and we appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts. We are continuously assessing our performance and will work on the areas we can improve upon."
Membership Representative (Former Employee) says"If you try to complain about a Nielsen racist manager who uses a racial slur to HR, you will get retiallated against and fired. HR top management will help cover things up and ignore complants and ignore things and even though they said they will keep things secret will go against you and fire you working with a racist manager who tweets racist things."
SR MARKET RESEARCH ANALYST (Current Employee) says"No plan career and no renegotiation. Is very difficult to have a promotion and to be recognized by your job and delivery. HR never helps the pretend they don't see what's going wrong."
DIRECTOR, Sales Effectiveness (Former Employee) says"Poor management, constant reductions in force, unstable financially, a general lack of direction for the companies future. No work life balance. Outdated products"
Survey Analyst (Former Employee) says"This place works you like a slave on a dialer all day. Too many rules as to what you can and cannot say over the phone. Feels way to much like a typical call center."
Data entry (Former Employee) says"Tout est dans le titre. Service RH inexistant, management rigide. Soit. « La chose la plus difficile est de n’attribuer aucune importance aux choses qui n’ont aucune importance. » Charles de Gaulle"
Field Service Technician (Current Employee) says"This is a really bad company. Run........ no one who works here is happy. We work with old out of date equipment. Don't believe these good reviews most likely written by management.NoneNo good management, old equipment, overworked and underpaid. We strive to provide the best experience for our employees. We will relay your feedback to our teams internally and we will take your feedback into consideration as we continue to work on creating the best working environment for our employees."
Advertising Solutions Team (Former Employee) says"Personally, I did not enjoy working at Nielsen. Each of the business units are extremely ciloed and the culture is quite combative. The needs of the employees were ignored and it still seemed as if the organization was where it had been when it started years ago."
Membership Representative (Former Employee) says"Lack of management, only certain people make money “the managers pets” If you dare to say anything you have management on your bad side. Therefore you will receive the low end of the specs. (Work). In other words, is not how good you are and the experience you have . If he likes you and wants to help you make money. This what the company likes and wants .. they do not pursued this management style since they give management to much power to do as they want.Company carMuch to list"
Mentor to new employees (Current Employee) says"The salary can be tempting but it is hardly enough to live on. Recently they cut hours because of a mistake the companies analyst made but somehow they did not get reprimanded yet they cut hours and it was not the callers fault. This place does NOT care about you. It literally is a mindless job that a chimp could do yet they pressure and pressure you for ridiculous stats. Do not work here, you will regret it. No one last here more than a couple months. The turnover is just ridiculous."
Sales / Membership Representative (Former Employee) says"Management is horrible. Outdated equipment. Policy changes constantly. Upset families participating in Television Research. Want you to work 7 days a week.NoneUnqualified managment. Turnover high."
Ibrahim Elkhalifa says"The program acted like a VIRUS and still cant delete it DONT INSTALL."
Judy Gaston says"I just spent an hour answering all their questions so I could take part in their paid surveys. After all of the time I spent completing their survey it was a complete waist of my time. Their reply to me after answering all their very personal question about my health insurance and if I was interested in coverage that would help pay the 20% that Medicare did not cover. Also asking questions about if I had been injured in any vehicle accidents, if I had any mesh implants that caused any medical problems, if I had ever used talcum powder and was diagnosed with cancer and if I had ever used Zantac and was diagnosed with cancer. There were several other questions about other products asking the same kind of questions. Then was told I cannot install Nielsen app on this device. They already knew what device I was using to answer all their questions. So they got all of my information email, phone number and home address. I now receive at least 10 to 15 calls a day from health insurance representative trying to sell me insurance. Oh I can't leave out the questions about if I have $10,000 or more in credit card debt or $10,000 or more I owe the government for taxes. I receive at least 20 calls a day from representatives to repair my credit or automated calls about debt forgiveness for taxes owed. I have no credit card debt nor do I owe the government for taxes. I also now receive calls about renewing a warranty on my vehicle. I don't even own a vehicle. Each time any of those Representatives Paul about any of those different things I try to explain that I do not need their services and ask politely to be taken off of their calling list only way to be hung up on and the next day it starts all over again."
David Hill says"In my experience this software acted like a virus. In 2 days it screwed up my laptop to such a degree it was very difficult to get at it to delete. My IT lesson learned for 2019 - don't entertain this company, any incentive they offer is not worth the hassle. I asked them for help, no reply!"
Daniel Rhind says"This company Nielsen consumer panel cannot be trusted.."
Btcguy says"Be careful guys."
