Navistar International Sucks Customer Reviews and Feedback
Navistar International Corporation is an American holding company created in 1986 as the successor to International Harvester. Navistar operates as the owner of International brand of trucks and diesel engines. Navistar International has been involved in several mega scandals. Recently, a state court jury in Omaha, NE found that Navistar International had committed fraud by concealing critical information in the sale of twenty-four Model Year 2011 and 2012 Prostar tractors containing the MaxxForce 13 Liter engine. The case involved the ill-fated EGR-only engine that Navistar sold from 2010 through 2012. The plaintiff in the case was Nationwide Transportation, an Omaha-based trucking company.
Navistar was accused of concealing serious defects with the EGR system including known defects that affected the durability (product life) of critical components of the EGR system. Nationwide’s owner Paul D. Moore testified during trial that Navistar assured him that the EGR system had been thoroughly and rigorously field tested and that components of the EGR system would last industry standard life.
Customers like Nationwide have sued Navistar in a variety of state courts alleging diminished value and lost profits as a result of these actions. The jury in Nebraska also found the warranty failed and authorized damages for these items as well.
The total damages awarded by the jury exceeded $500,000. According to Miller, “This is the third jury to find Navistar has committed fraud in the sale of the MaxxForce engine. The only jury to find no fraud involved the sale of used trucks. We believe juries understand that the acts of Navistar’s engineers and executives in concealing the true facts about testing deficiencies and product defects was intentional and ethically wrong.”
Former Employee - Sourcing Specialist says"Too many upper managers, not easily to communicate to VP's."
Senior Manager says"Lack of vision from executive management means that the talent is not utilized in a cohesive, productive manner. Navistar is the opposite of "work smarter, not harder"... I left because I was working my tail off and never quite knew what I was working toward."
Former Employee - Engineering says"Upper management has made very detrimental leadership decisions in the past decade. The in-cylinder emissions solution was flawed from the start, and the engineering and product development teams in Fort Wayne, Indiana tried to communicate to the Chicago world headquarters that it wasn't working and that the company should switch to the SCR technology that the rest of the industry was using to meet EPA requirements. When Engineering leadership expressed this concern, the CEO and Truck President threatened lower management with dismissal and demanded that their decisions were final and anyone not willing to agree, were not team players."
Team member (Former Employee) says"I just didn't feel like it was right all that time working that hard lifting armor whatever job ,and getting paid 10.00 a hour. They could also use some sort of softener for your feet there , that's heavy for concrete.NoneNone"
Material Handler/Forklift Operator (Former Employee) says"I've worked for this company twice and it ended as same no full time placement. When the company picks up it hires summer temp an thats what it is. Once it slows down either they will keep you for awhile and say they gonna hire you but never do. In my caseNothingUnion workers"
Machine Operator (Former Employee) says"HR department is strongly on the side of supervisors regardless of scenarios. Micro Management as the norm in most large companies. Very anti-contract to the point they harass “suspected” pro contract employees. Meetings on why you don’t want a contract , but that played out when they lost all the machining jobs & the Powerstroke engine contract. It’s a routine assembly job with little to no hope of climbing a ladder as one does not exist. You need permission to use the restroom & are expected to not look at your phone for any reason. It’s not a skilled job , it’s labor. The pay will support a single family without kids. If you have kids & want to buy a home , your spouse better have a good job. You will live the lower to middle class lifestyle working here . No pension , but a 401K . Just be thankful for the opportunity to devote your life to a company that will only treat you as a number. You’re not getting rich here , you’re not doing anything it takes skills to do and no matter how hard you work, you will still make the same amount as the person down the line high on Roxy . There’s some great people to work withTraffic and management, including HR"
Summer Intern (Former Employee) says"I was only employed as a summer intern, but the people were good and helpful to work with. I learned a lot about truck design, and other topics relevant to that industry."
Renato A. says"Provided incomplete manual, requested PayPal refund, they tried to play smart not to refund by initiating return postage request before refunding. Beware when dealing with this company, based in UK and India."
Arnout Griepsma says"i ordered a specific servicemanual for my car but received another .pfd renamed to the one i ordered. in sted of a 2008 audi A4 b8, the contents was for a totally different make and model. sending an email just resulted in receiving a standard email over and over again. from a so called support operator. #KRE-642-33061"
