Migros (German pronunciation: ˈmiɡro) is Switzerland's largest retail company, its largest supermarket chain and largest employer. It is also one of the forty largest retailers in the world. It is structured in the form of a cooperative federation (the Federation of Migros Cooperatives), with more than two million members. It co-founded Turkey's largest retailer, Migros Türk, which became independent of Migros Switzerland in 1975. The name comes from the French "mi" for half or mid-way and "gros", which means wholesale. Thus the word connotes prices that are halfway between retail and wholesale. The logo of the company is a large orange M. Migros is often referred to as "der orange Riese", i.e. "the orange giant" (German: oranger Riese, French: géant orange, Italian: gigante arancio), an expression presumably borrowed from Germany, where Deutsche Telekom is often referred to as "der rosa Riese", i.e. "the pink giant"

An exasperated buyer wrote this review on acclaimed Swiss supermarket: "This is absolutely the first and absolutely last time I order from Migros! I ordered 6 items from them four weeks ago....which should have been delivered three weeks ago, and to crown it all I only received two items? No response from the telephone on their website (I have tried five four times already) and you can forget about getting a response when you send a "Kontaktformular". We are going through a very trying period right now so certain things one must make allowance for, but not sending goods which your client has paid for, not replying to them regarding tardiness of delivery, where it is, if they will still be getting it,etc,....unacceptable!"

"Cette entreprise ne prend pas soin de ses employés. Le gérant actuel licencie à tour de bras, ne regardant absolument pas le côté humain... Les employés sont des simples numéros, et doivent reconnaître à chaque entretien avec leurs supérieurs que la Migros est sympa de les avoir engagés et que les employés doivent se montrer reconnaissants envers l'entreprise, parce qu'ils "lui doivent beaucoup". Les entretiens devraient être filmés et se faire en présence de plusieurs personnes, car à la suite de chaque entretien en tête-à-tête, les propos des managers changent. Leur version des discussions qui ont eu lieu varient beaucoup, ils n'assument rien et se montrent d'une mauvaise foi extrême. Plus jamais je ne mettrai les pieds dans une Migros, que ce soit comme employée ou comme cliente.quelques collègues sympathiquesbeaucoup..."

Kein Wunder, dass in einem 6-köpfigen Team schon ewig 2 Mitarbeiter fehlen."

The "Covid-19 four months time", has shown a perfect uncared politic (about increase of prices) regarding the pseudo medium power of buying, now called "survivors buyers". Between the moltitude of the examples, let's put on the tomatoes cherries. The "sad Covid period" was getting hard by itself, so some 'Summer fruits" were well psicologically welcomed ! "It's not bad in terms of grocery shopping but they need to start looking into better and also more environmentally friendly packaging. I'm shocked at seeing non recyclable plastic products used for fresh produce. For example, the beans from Zimbabwe are wrapped in single use plastic? Come on Migros, this is Switzerland, you should be a leading example to sustainability! Also, the organic range vegetables are poorly packaged and go to waste easily after a day in the fridge. They local Bio products are not worth the money and mainly due to the cheap packaging method and materials."
