Back on September 4th, NEW VISION website, reported about FORMER president of the Uganda Law Society Andrew Kasirye, who has been dragged to the Law Council over professional misconduct involving a land sale:
FORMER president of the Uganda Law Society Andrew Kasirye has been dragged to the Law Council over professional misconduct involving a land sale. Kasirye is accused of selling land to two buyers without the consent of the owners and after the first buyer had allegedly paid for the land. The disputed land that was owned by the children of the late President Yusuf Lule is located on Namirembe Road in Kampala. William Blick, one of the owners of the land, says Kasirye advised them to withdraw the powers of attorney from their uncle, Dr. Ntwatwa Lule. He also says they agreed to jointly sell their property to Eng. Pius Mugalaasi at a cost of sh820m, which would be received by Kasirye, Byaruhanga, and Company Advocates, where Kasirye worked. Mugalaasi initially paid sh450m as had been agreed but Kasirye canceled the contract with him, saying he would delay paying the remaining amount. Blick said Kasirye, without authority from them, received sh450m from another buyer, Ephraim Ntaganda, whose offer they had earlier rejected.
