Harper's Magazine is a monthly magazine of literature, politics, culture, finance, and the arts. Launched in New York City in June 1850, it is the second-oldest continuously published monthly magazine in the U.S. (Scientific American is the oldest, although it did not become monthly until 1921). Harper's Magazine has won 22 National Magazine Awards.

A former employee said this in a review: "Bad work/life balance, limited brand vision. Lack of digital strategy. I do not recommend working at Harper's Magazine".

"Rubbish. Deceitful methods in order to fill vacancies. I told them I would not work for an umbrella company, they said that would not be the case if I did not want it ,and yet, they were using an umbrella company con to make fast work placements, and I was given no option when I found out after I had been there 2 weeks. Never again ! . Cons: Liars and tricksters"

"Decent money, no chance for advancement, family centered, but I was outsider. Did learn about counting money, doing books, hiring and firing, alcohol sales, storage and procurement. Learned to defuse drunk and violent situations. Cons: No chance for advancement, no job secrurity, inappropriate work environment"

"Harpers is owned by Morgan Food. Most of the staff are apprentices, just using them as cheap Labor. Cons: Never the same hours, constanly changing how the do things"

"although the workforce are nice to work for and the Md is actually quite a nice person everything else that comes with the job is terrible the management are nothing but bullies and the work is practically just picking up rubbish you might get the occasional bit of good work but no matter your trade no matter how good you are at your job your just going to be a bit of mud on the bottom of their shoes. Cons: everything else"

"Overall, was an average working environment, miserable members of staff, quite a few customer complaints, felt like issues were not addressed properly by higher members of staff. Cons: Long hours, staff members not very friendly"

"I learned some useful and handy kitchen skills in my time of been there. A normal shift is busy from the start right up to the time you finish but with good people its made easier."

"opened up the kitchen and shop area ready for customers,cooked breakfasts and main meals,i learnt how to make home made pies from scratch..the management were abit up and down as it was a new company... Cons: long hours at xmas time, when closed at midnight, had to get a taxi back...not paid for by company"

"face paced. management is tough to work with. tips are decent and the chef is great and takes pride in the product that he makes for the guest. The location in NC is a lot better."

"This company gives you the means to make money and product overall is a very good product to sell. Some of the operations as far as the restaurant goes aren't the best but different departments are better than others. Cons: Very long hours"
