Fifth Third Bancorp Sucks. Fifth Third Bank (5/3 Bank) is a bank headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, at Fifth Third Center. It is the principal subsidiary of Fifth Third Bancorp, a diversified bank holding company. One of the largest consumer banks in the Midwestern United States, it operates 1,154 branches and 2,469 automated teller machines in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Florida, Tennessee, West Virginia, Georgia, and North Carolina. Fifth Third Bank is incorporated in Ohio. It was state-chartered until late 2019, when it obtained a national charter.The name "Fifth Third" is derived from the names of the bank's two predecessor companies, Third National Bank and Fifth National Bank, which merged in 1909. The company is ranked 384th on the Fortune 500. It is on the list of largest banks in the United States.

A customer they lost talks about "I just found out my credit card with Fifth Third Bancorp was cancelled without notice, forfeiting all my cash reward points. Why? The simple reason I hadn't used it for a mere six months. I spoke to a customer service of Fifth Third Bancorp with a supervisor who said her name was Hope, who told me they had the right to cancel anyone's account at any time without notice. I told her I had been a loyal customer in good standing for several years but she would hear nothing of it. She refused to reinstate the account and refused send me a check for the cash rewards I am owed. I explained that part of the reason for the lack of use was due to COVID 19 but she couldn't care less. I asked to speak to her supervisor but she refused, stating I could only complain to the bank's president in writing and only by snail mail. She also refused to provide me with info on what government department to complain to."

"It’s a massive company that doesn’t want any upward feedback. Management is out of touch. Executive management in Chicago regularly lied about turnover and encourages unethical behavior. They boast that they put the customer at the center, but the processes to resolve anything even when bank error are rigid and take days/weeks to resolve. Branch managers are performance managers and widget-pushers with no authority to make decisions. The incentives were not paid on time and were incorrect more often than not. For a company that asks for 50+ hour work weeks from its managers, I expected to at least be invented correctly and on time, but it all rolls down hill. The branch staff is not important and regional and executive management consistently reminded us that we are replaceable. This was the worst place I’ve ever worked."

"This place may have been great at one point, but it is currently in a swan dive. They desperately bought a Chicago area bank in a bid to expand, and then laid off half of thier staff. Here on the Ohio front, Branch Managers only care when they can share gossip. Regional are so out of touch with how a branch runs that they have no clue that expectations for metrics are unreasonable. If you personally dont force loans down everyone's throat they will show you the door."

"My experience at Fifth third bank was HORRIBLE due to the toxic, stressful work environment due to employees, management and the company. I went through being the only teller for whole days at a time with no help from bankers or management. Hours and benefits were cut for part time employees- making it hard to make a living. The days were constantly micromanaged, with no positive feedback on how to improve. I met goals and had over 100 transactions daily but it was not enough to management. Recognition and rewards for effort were not sought to hard working employees. I also never called in a day, but had stayed late Monday- Saturday due to lack of help from bankers and manager. I was talked to with disrespect daily and harassed. Be prepared if you take this job to be walked all over by employees that have been there longer. As a part time teller, you will get the worst of the worst- most days lunches are not given and you will work about 9 hours. It was an extremely negative environment- each day the huddles would start with negative comments and embarrassing employees in front of an audience. Many times as I asked for help, Management would embarrass me in front of customers and coworkers In a daunting manner. I have never had such a poor experience at a workplace. I happily left.Honestly leaving was the best choice madeNo lunch breaks, micromanagement, TOXIC environment, unfriendly coworkers that will smile in your face and talk bad behind your back, low hours and pay, Bare minimum benefits"

Goals and expectations are constantly raised so that you are always behind. Bonus payout system was recently changed so as to pay employees less in bonuses. Managers are promoted based on their sales not on their leadership abilities. Environment is toxic and you are encouraged to shark sales wherever you can get them, including from people who cannot afford it.Working indoors?toxic environment, pushy sales strategies, not enough incentive pay"

"I have been paying down my home mortgage with the intention of having it completely paid now. Instead 53 failure to post a $15,000 payment to reduce my principal has stopped me in my tracks. They showed the payment received on my account but never reduced the principal and are showing a balance due much higher than it should be. My bank offered to prove they cashed the check by providing a copy, but they never responded to the bank. Despite repeated phone calls and written complaints to the office of the president I am getting nothing but a runaround. Basically they have stolen $15,000 from me. Oh and of course they are keeping me from paying the loan off as I cannot get a true payoff amount. And most likely charging interest for money I do not owe them."

"Fifth Third is certainly NOT "the only bank you will ever need", trust me it is the LAST BANK YOU WOULD EVER WANT! I thought only retailers used bait and switch--not so. I was told that I could get a home equity line of credit of $25,000.00 or less without a document request. It was a lie. Underwriting hit me with a litany of requests. I was not happy but I fulfilled each and everyone of them even the loan officer said so. My credit score was 826 and my net worth just shy of one million dollars. They insisted on appraising my my $335,000.00 home, I guess to see if it was enough collateral to cover the $25,000.00? I am convinced they do not want to loan money at the current rates. Rather than needing to defend turning down a worthy application they sent me a second document request. It included asking for a copy of every page of my annuities. I should have followed my own advice about borrowing from banks. Chapter 4 of my book Revolutionary Retailing."

"Horrible!!! Customer Service is horrible. I called and received different information about an issue I had 3 times!!! They have a track record of inaccurate credit reporting. Changed my credit report standing 3 times and I am still fighting my case. They do not attempt to help their customers. Loads of fees and they are always changing their policies. Stay Away!!!”"

"Absolutely horrible service, their staff has no idea how to take care or treat the customer and they will charge you for everything. The person I spoke to Dan who claimed he's the supervisor - Employee # DDRODS92. We closed the account for bad service, and they continue to send bills, the last final payment was paid and then they send another bill for $1.00. Tried getting that removed, NOT. I do not recommend this bank. I would give them a ZERO if it allowed me to."
