El Corte Inglés S.A. translates from Spanish for '"the English cut", is headquartered in Madrid, and is the biggest department store group in Europe and ranks third worldwide. El Corte Inglés is Spain's only remaining department store chain.


One angry customer shared this in a review "El Corte Ingles are a society of criminals. They sent me a badly damaged product (Imetec Zero Glu breadmaker) in undamaged outer package. It is immediately apparent that the appliance has already been used. Traces of repair attempts are noticeable. When I tried to turn it on, circuit braker tripped.Contact with the company is not possible, letters are not answered, telephone contact is a comedy.I have never experienced anything like this in my shopping experience."

"Everything else. First of all, women are paid way less than men - that's a fact. I was working with a guy in the same category, I was more educated, spoke more languages, did the same hours under the same contract and provided assistance to other deparments due to my language capabilities and still I was paid between 200-100€ less than him. No one could ever explain why. Secondly, micromanagement is the culture there. Bosses don't do anything at all, they just sit in their offices playing Tetris or the Solitary in their PC (true story) and from time to time check on your work to tell you off about anything. More than once, the boss put my in a very difficult situation promising things to clients that we could not manage at the end. Awful management. Third, there's no work-life balance at all. Expect to work long working hours without any extra compensation. Expect to accept tasks outside your contract and role with no extra compensation. Expect to be available 24/7 because your shift can be changed from one day to another. Oh, and don't expect to be able to chose your holidays. People there are hypocrites, snobs, arrogant, and extremely stubborn. They are stuck in the same practices that where established 50 years ago."

"- Extremely politicised and corrupt business all the way from the top to the bottom - Systems have not been updates since the 1990s - Extremely incompetent senior and middle management (none of them have every worked in any other business or country; they have no idea of what a modern business looks like) - Extremely unprofessional and sexist work culture - No training or development - HR is still called the Personnel department - Staff call the business “the house” (people literally act as if they are walking around their living room wearing an ugly, worn out grey suit and green tie) - Extremely demotivated and incompetent colleagues (most are waiting for an early retirement and the rest are looking forwards to an early retirement) - The company is actually making a loss in most of its business divisions - You are not paid your full pay during the first year (extremly odd) - You cannot work from home - You cannot take your entitled holiday leave when you want to - Company travel expenses are not re-funded"

"Es una empresa que desde luego no es lo que fue, mal llevada, mal gestionada, y en manos de un personal de ETT,( encargados y jefes de equipo) que lo único que les caracteriza es el egocentrismo, y el mal trato a sus empleados, en la mayoría de ellos, sobre todo en la planta 3, preparado de pedidos, que es, con diferencia, la peor. Gritos, faltas de respeto, burlas, y un sin fin de cosas que sólo dan como resultado, que los empleados no den lo mejor de si mismo. Un ambiente totalmente estresante, donde reina una especie de dictadura y esclavitud, donde no te sientes trabajador, si no un esclavo, debido a un sin fin de normas anti humanas, y nada propias del siglo XXI. Mi valoración de esta empresa es la peor que se puede dar. En mis más de 20 años laborales, no he conocido jamas un sitio donde se trabaje tan mal."

"Trabajé dos años en el Corte Inglés. Desde el primer momento noté la fría acogida y la presión de mis jefes y compañeros/as. Las comisiones es un tema bastante conflictivo con los compañeros/as y con la misma empresa, que te dice directamente que no te tienen que dar explicaciones referente a este tema. Aún así nadie entiende el mecanismo que utilizan para los incentivos. Lamentable.Está en una zona céntrica de fácil acceso.Falta de compañerismo, competitividad, mal ambiente..."

"Salario mínimo, prorrateado + comisiones. Estás sujeta a un mínimo de vtas dependiendo del departamento, para cobrarlas. Si vendes mucho o destacas, los trabajadores antiguos malmeten a jefes de departamento o planta. Que el 9,9% son hombres. No se fomenta el mérito sólo 🎾. Si te quedas en estado no te hacen indefinido, aunque vendas mucho y trabajes hasta el final. No sirven de nada los sindicatos que son de la misma empresa."
