Chanel Sucks Customer Reviews and Feedback

From Everything.Sucks

Chanel /ʃəˈnɛl/, French pronunciation: [ʃanɛl] is a French fashion house that focuses on women's high fashion and ready-to-wear clothes, luxury goods, and accessories. The company is owned by Alain Wertheimer and Gérard Wertheimer, grandsons of Pierre Wertheimer, who was an early business partner of the couturière Coco Chanel. In her youth, Gabrielle Chanel gained the nickname "Coco" from her time as a chanteuse. As a fashion designer, Coco Chanel catered to women's taste for elegance in dress, with blouses and suits, trousers and dresses, and jewelry gemstone and bijouterie of simple design, that replaced the opulent, over-designed, and constrictive clothes and accessories of 19th-century fashion. The Chanel product brands have been personified by male and female fashion models, idols, and actresses, including Inès de La Fressange, Catherine Deneuve, Carole Bouquet, Vanessa Paradis, Nicole Kidman, Jackie Kennedy, Anna Mouglalis, Audrey Tautou, Keira Knightley, Kristen Stewart, Pharrell Williams, Jennie Kim, Cara Delevingne, and Marilyn Monroe.

Back  February 2020  Michelle Honig wrote a review for the  JEWISH TELEGRAPHIC AGENCY  in which she shares her opinion about Chanel and its anti-Semitic, Nazi past: “If you walk into any wealthy Jewish American neighborhood, a careful eye will spot designer duds - Gucci, Prada, Louis Vuitton - sported by well-coiffed men and women as they walk through town. But in a sea of expensive excess, one designer’s name is spoken of with an air of reverence: Chanel. It is a brand that can at once whisper and scream one’s bourgeois status. The boxy tweed jackets and white camellia flower pins are logo-less signatures that boldly state their coveted designer status without saying (or, in this case, embroidering or printing) a word. It’s that unique mix of modesty and immodesty that makes Chanel a household name among Orthodox and secular Jewish women alike. Chanel provides bewigged and be-hatted Hasidic women with stiff, below-the-knee boucle skirt suits while simultaneously appealing to the languorous Long Island crowd with its less understated interlocked “CC” logo branded crop tops and chokers. But Chanel wasn’t always beloved by the upwardly mobile Jewish American elite. The namesake French founder Coco Chanel, despite her contributions to the development of modern fashion and luxury sportswear, was, as other writers have put it, a “wretched human being” and an “incorrigible anti-Semite. Not only was she in bed with the Nazi cause, but there is strong evidence to suggest that she actively worked for the Nazis as a secret agent.”

Tell the world why Chanel sucks!

Current Employee - Manager says

"Age Discrimination, Retaliation, Favoritism. No experience no problem as long as you are cute."

Former Employee - Retail Manager says

"Upper management plays favorites and majority are terrified. Most veteran employees feel that if a certain VP likes you then your job is secure. No annual reviews or performance sessions. Regional Managers are known to talk about employees to other counter managers and retail managers...specifically in regards to their performance and likability. Tend to retaliate against people who don't "fit in" versus trying to talk and coach. I've seen associates not act themselves because they were just scared of the person. Upper VP's will yell and humiliate Retail Managers and Key Account Managers in front of fellow peers or even Counter Associates."

Former Employee - Chanel Counter Manager says

"In all fairness this happened several years ago but it still really bothers me to this day. Account manager was very impressive, but at the same time she was incredibly mean and frequently had people in tears. I was making much less than other people in my department while maintaining the highest sales. When I said something to the account manager she moved me out of Chanel and the store made me take a new job."

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"Not ordering key pieces & what department stores advertise"

Current Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"The cons depend on what your job profile is"

Former Employee - Fashion Advisor says

"Terrible management in Orlando Boutique. 12 people left in the last year, out of a 14 person staff. Inconsistent application of policy, gross favoritism, and unprofessional behavior from the management staff make it a very difficult, unpleasant workplace. The problems will persist if something doesn't change."

Assistant Manager (Former Employee) says

"boutique facilitator" but really a slave (Former Employee) says

"Tons of disorganization, racism, no training offered but you are expected to do/know everything. unexperienced and unprofessional management. lost so much respect for the brand. over worked and underpaid."

Fashion Consultant (Former Employee) says

"3 assistant Managers(Turkish, Syrian Brazilian and Lebanese lady) do not appreciate their staff at all and they are lying to the company and bringing their own staff and one of them did relationship with lady in order to get permanent contract. As a brand I will never go back to it becaause of the mngmt"

"I have over 16 years experience in the industry. It’s extreme drama within the Holt Renfrew company as a whole. They give you unrealistic goals that make You feel absolutely horrible about yourself It’s very stressful due to these unrealistic sales goals .. and WILL 100% make you sign a waiver to make all sales goal or they will fire you!.. I have nothing good to say about the comany"

"Hated working for them managers was the worst hated everything about the place they trainers and account executives were the worst ever they are rude."

Boutique Assistant (Former Employee) says

"只要做好本份盡責任,有雖要時提建議,有礼歡迎客人,員工自 行 分工,减少上級煩惱便可。間中新的產品贈给員工,生日會,節日联歡,抽獎或与業績掛勾的獎項使員工動力加強,亦少不了於寒冷天氣日子派暖包和熱飲,較窩心。福利,醫療好有時返早要4点半就起身,收夜要11点後才能走。"

Product Manager (Former Employee) says

Executive Director (Former Employee) says

"This is a dwindling place to work in. No job security, no motivation and the company is bady run."

Demonstrator (Former Employee) says

"You have no benefits, no insurance, no security and no stable hours. They make you work more and harass you to sell even though there are no customers. The dress code is very strict and will tell you to look home if they deem you to look ugly or if you don't have enough makeup on. I had to lie to customers constantly about products and their worth, and their products are too expensive so no one wants to buy. Furthermore, you have to do an extremely long exam about the history of chanel. the management is impossible to contact , and basically you're disposable, no one cares about you."

As you can imagine, I was shocked to receive this response for a watch that is clearly expensive, and felt that I was being blamed for something I obviously did not do.
