Capital One Financial Corporation is an American bank holding company specializing in credit cards, auto loans, banking, and savings accounts, headquartered in McLean, Virginia with operations primarily in the United States. It is on the list of largest banks in the United States and has developed a reputation for being a technology focused bank.

The bank has 755 branches including 30 café style locations and 2,000 ATMs. It is ranked 98th on the Fortune 500, 17th on Fortune's 100 Best Companies to Work For list, and conducts business in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. The company helped pioneer the mass marketing of credit cards in the 1990s. In 2016, it was the 5th largest credit card issuer by purchase volume, after American Express, JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, and Citigroup.

Capital One refuses to accept overseas phone numbers as part of user profiles. They recently mandated a two-factor authentication requirement that only allows US phone numbers as the second factor. So if you're a US service member stationed overseas, with a phone number local to the country you are stationed in, you are unable to establish a second factor, and therefor can't access your account online. After 40 minutes of conversation with a service rep and then a supervisor account service rep, a USA service member was politely informed that "sorry, you and every other service member or American living overseas without a US phone number are just out of luck." Capital One can tell from the calls from overseas phones that are charged overseas rates to see that the service persons have to manage accounts, check charges, make payments...This is not 1970!

"DON'T, please DON'T invest in this company unless you can afford to have your money taken from you with promises that you will get it back when it matures, with interest, and then never returned (I'd call that theft?). This is what's happened to me in this probably scheme: I did receive veiled threats this year that this company would be unable to pay me back if my honest review deterred more investment but as they have no intention of returning my life savings I may as well be honest now.
