Bissell Inc., also known as Bissell Homecare, is an American privately owned vacuum cleaner and floor care product manufacturing corporation headquartered in Walker, Michigan in Greater Grand Rapids. The company is the number one manufacturer of floor care products in North America in terms of sales, with 20% marketshare.

Kimberl angrily shared her experience "I have exhausted my efforts in trying to locate the vacuum/product. I verbally communicated and put in writing that I have not received my order. I have checked repeatedly with BISSELL along with Fed Ex who both argue the other company has the product. I have not received any help with this matter and I am left without a vacuum, time spent on the phone and computer trying to locate the item, and I am out my money. Now BISSELL claims they "show" my refund was given. However, I have not received a refund. This company needs to be reported as fraudulent. Please do not buy anything from BISSELL."

"I worked there through a temp agency for 4 months during the Christmas rush. I didn't miss 1day of work and was never late. I was told that I was a good worker, part of the team, as I quickly learned the operating system and had no problem at all working anywhere we needed help. I loaded/unloaded trucks, did put away, replenishment. I was in complete shock when I was let go 2 days before Christmas, right after the potluck in which I brought 80$ in dessert (I truly thought I was part of the team). I was given no honest reason by Bissell, and even the temp agency didn't understand. So thank you Bissell for the worst experience in my working career. As sincere as I could possibly be, you broke my heart. Cons: See main review"

"Nobody wants to come to workand be unhappy. Management is a joke, he wants to be friends with the coworkers instead of doing his job. Nobody wants to be making boxes 6 days a week around a bunch of females who bully everyone there until they quit. And once you tell Management what's going on you get in trouble."

"Majority of the people working there have bad attitudes, and are always mean. A lot of the higher up people including the supervisor are racist and will talk to you poorly if you’re a minority. They treat you like you’re beneath them. Cons: No benefits unless you’ve been there for over a year."

"Management changes that took place about 3-4 years ago absolutely ruined the work environment at this company. Talented managers that wanted the best for the workers and company were replaced with opportunist newbies who knew nothing about the business. Experienced workers were soon sidelined, let go or just quit. Cons: Bad managers"

"The liquid fill line was always breaking down or jamming up. You never know when you would take a break or have lunch. The line would run at a fast pace and you had to keep up. If you have to go to the bathroom and can't just leave your post. You would have to get someone to relieve you. If no one was around you just waited until someone showed up. The bottles with soap would fall and splash all over the place. some solutions would bother your skin and you would have to wear gloves or your skin would burn."

"If they can’t get rid of you because of performance they’ll get rid of you for attendance. However, if you have perfect attendance they’ll try to make you quit... But If you don’t quit, they’ll Fire you anyways and just say it’s because of performance. I can think of at least 3 people who Make Bissell a bad company to work for..."

"The company was a great culture until all of senior management was replaced a few years ago. Since then it has been a revolving door of VPs all trying to make a name for themselves. This has led to a loss of focus for the minions and a long period of declining sales. There have been a few rounds of layoffs and reorganizations, and it doesn't seem like they've found their way yet."

They were such a humongous value to the company, disappointingly the top doesn't see that when they decide to jump on the next bigger and better thing and restructure. "Very first day I worked there they were talking about Saturday OT being mandatory. 4 hours later they started sending temps home, claiming there wasn't enough work and to talk to our temp agencies about finding another assignment."

"Like a lot of factories, you do the same thing over and over again. I hated the smell of chemicals in the factory. Bosses didn't care about you unless you did your work. No training, they had you pull a lot of screwed up labels off bottles and then put new ones on cause the machines weren't able to do it. Dead end job as well. Cons: Chemical Smell"

"A very lopsided culture with little integrity since the reorganization. Long-time dedicated professionals were either released from the company or driven out by lack of team support and/or lack of intellectual tools to make them successful. BISSELL employed some of the best engineers, executives and managers who not only cared about making an outstanding product, but also doing it with integrity and honor. Once the leadership changed, it was a free-for-all and how can I use you to make my career successful. The pay was never up to par, but after the change in management, the review process made promotion impossible if you were not one of the "chosen few" in Marketing. Marketing plays too large of roll in the "control" of the company decisions. Individuals makes changes that disrupt everything and then leave to better themselves elsewhere. It became an all "show" no real quality to the culture. Customer Care was never a respected part of the success of the organization. It was believed from the top that the "Cost Center" was a necessary evil and those people only had their jobs because they couldn't get jobs anywhere else. Just an example of the lopsided cultural atmosphere. A real shame because BISSELL has such a great founder's story. Cons: No vision, poor management, negative culture with little integrity"

"Beware, get ready to get your back stabbed over and over! However I will say this in my tenure here I worked with some of the most talented and passionate marketers and engineers. That being said, I also worked with some of the worst. Push the envelope and expect to be stabbed in the back because Bissell does not like change. Also the cafeteria and the cooks are amazing. Best lunch you will ever have and very price friendly. Cons: management, culture, lazy workers"

"Degrading towards their employees. If you don't know something, the supervisor belittled you about it. Even if you do know what you're doing, the supervisor tells you your wrong and gets someone else help and will not let you do your job. Benefits are great! Don't let them fool you and have you believing that they pay for the college courses upfront. You have pay for it first, then wait a month or 2 to get reimbursed. Honestly, save yourself some time and look at a different company. Definitely do not recommend. Cons: Supervisor always over your shoulder"

"It's a great stepping stone, but that's all it is. It was a "family" company so some of the residual employees that have been around since then are in higher up positions, they know the owner, they view themselves as if they were executives.... So yes power tripping, arrogant, condisending management. The clams of racism are not true however, it is very diverse and welcoming, just work, stop playing on your phone. Cons: Forced education (you pay upront), unorginized, inefficient, managment has taken a nose dive."

"Very strange place to work at, most people hired in work on the line producing cleaning solution a very easy job indeed. Few technical jobs, it seems the company prefers to hire very few “ line employees “ and goes through many temp people frequently. The supervisor there on there shift was an straight to the point, said he only gets people to where he needs them. Overall it’s an ok place to work short term as the lack of oppertunity for advencement always remains. Cons: Lack of opportunities/never hired in."

A highly profitable company should be providing better employee health care, their high deductible insurance is terrible and not allowing a spouse to be covered if their employer offers insurance is ridiculous. 2. Profit sharing and 401K match is subpar considering company growth and company profitability. 3. A quick look at the companies organizational chart tells you that BISSELL lacks diversity in the workplace. You will be hard pressed to find any minority workers represented here. 4. The use of temporary employees is overextended and taken advantage of. 5. Temperature and humidity levels in the plant leave peoples health at risk, Unbearable heat conditions during the summer months. 6. Poor production worker wages. 7. Ridiculous (keeping it real) shift premiums 8. Poor family/ work balance 9. Employee appreciation could be much better. 10. Poor break/ lunch time allotment for hourly workers"

It has a very corporate feel and leadership micromanage, creating extremely inefficient process. Mostly white male leaders with little diversity who get to sit in offices while everyone else is forced to sit in very open workspaces with few areas to concentrate on work."

"My mother had a very old bissell steam cleaner that was always a piece of shit. All the cheap plastic eventually broke on everything. Then she decided to buy a new Bissell Symphony and the pump stopped working and she tried to replace it and its just, complete cheap crap, still busted. I would bet my money on one of the other brands out there!"

"Bissell 2252 clean view pet. Went to use the accessory wand and found that beater bar continues to turn digging into carpet as I was pulling on hose to reach what I needed. I called customer support and emailed them and got the same unacceptable response. This model the bar continues to turn. Tilt machine backwards and keep hands and feet and anything that can be pulled in, away from beater bar to use. In what world is this acceptable. Certainly not mine. This makes the hose and attachments useless and they could care less. Spend the money and buy a quality vacuum Anywhere but from bissell."

"I really wish I could give this zero stars bc they are this bad! I bought a Bissell CrossWave Pet Pro MultiSurface Dry Vac, It never work worked like it was supposed to! It would leave pools of dirty water on my floor instead of vacuuming them up! When I contacted Bissell with pictures they said I could cut the cord off of my machine and send it to them, which is what I did, along with their email...this was in June and so far I still have NOT heard from them! My Crosswave was still under warranty so I should have gotten a refund! I will NEVER BUY another Bissell product bc of their lack of response and caring about their customers!"

"RUN FROM THIS COMPANY! Do not order Bissell products. They do not produce reputable, durable products. We ordered a Spinwave mop directly from Bissell and it did not work out of the box. We were sent to an authorized repairer who gave us an older spinwave with an entirely different serial number and did not return our scrubbing pads that were on our unit. This is our first and last Bissell product."

"I bought a model 1984, Air Ram. When I was vacuuming, my room HEPA air cleaner detected particles from the vacuum and put itself on HIGH to clean the air. I packed up the vacuum & sent it back to Bissell. It was delivered on 11/20/20. No refund was initiated by Bissell until I called them on 11/30. It is now 12/10 and no refund yet. They say it is processing. their website says "Once your return is received by BISSELL, it may take up to two weeks for your refund to be issued." It has been almost three weeks. DO NOT BUY directly from Bissell."

"Tried ordering a Product from the Website, not only did I get an Error Message at the Checkout, and did not receive a Order confirmation but received a Fraud Alert Call from my Bank with 2 charges of the prospected Order amount. Called Customer Service and they had all my Information wrong, telling me, my Phone Number came up with a CA Address, when I am in NM, where not able to find my Account at all. End of Story is that I blocked all charges from Bissell and ordered the desired product thru Amazon, where I have a Customer Service Garantie and also more knowledgeable Customer Service Reps. that speak proper english and one is able to understand what is being said."

"My Bissell Crosswave floor cleaner purchased here in the U.K. started making a burning smell. The service team in South Africa arranged collection. It was returned a few days later without notice and no correspondence as to what was done ... neither their U.K. CEO or US CEO Mark Bissell respond to customer complaints or even have a CEO Team. Only Customer services South Africa will deal! For the SECOND time exactly the same thing ,,, collected and returned without notice or any correspondence! I was happy to accept a refurbished replacement.. but they just keep sending me my old one back .. with the Call centre saying the Filter was blocked ... I won’t use it . And they won’t even change the filter ..though they say they have serviced the machine! Please AVOID at all costs .. so much hassle when anything goes wrong! They won’t let you speak to a Manager in the South Africa Office .. they just say they are not in the office. Never ever known a Company like this! Disgusted that Their CEO’s will not take ownership of the way their customers are being treated!"

"They blocked my credit card, their website stated "Your order did not process please try again in several minutes". I than realized my bank shut down my credit card as fraud because Bissell does this to a lot of people and I unblocked it. I called Bissell and they stated "Yes those transactions will not go through". I used my card again and they charged two orders. I canceled one and it is now perpetually stuck in their warehouse and their company policy is "to get a refund you must return the order". Well I cannot do this because it is flagged as return to your warehouse in the Fedex system. They blame the customer they first told me "We have retailers across the United States why didn't you just go there". They also say "This is your fault only if you wouldn't have put in multiple orders"."

"I am very disappointed with the pet hair vacuum I paid $350 for. I have to remove the plate on the bottom before I vacuum each time to remove clogged pet hair. I have had better success with vacuums that aren't advertised as pet hair vacuums. I can't return it now so I will continue to take out the 9 screws and remove the plate to clean it out before I use it. What a bummer!"

"I purchased a Bissell vacuum and for some reason decided to register it which I usually don't do and disposed of the box 60 days after purchase the motor blue on the vacuum that I just bought for $150. Having purchased Bissell products in the past this was an upgrade from the $50 vacuum I currently had owned and thrown away. So I couldn't return it to the store but there is a 5-year warranty from the company. I took it to one of their warranty service centers it has been there approximately 45 days. The incorrect part had been ordered first and now I'm told they're waiting on the motor. I've contacted the company twice with no response. I will never purchase another Bissell product again and I've learned my lesson not to throw away the box because the store would have allowed me to return it within 90 days with my receipt I would have had a new vacuum that same day. Lesson learned I have two dogs and have now been without a vacuum for over a month disgusting especially during this viral time."

"On first use my Stainpro 6 made the carpet very wet. It is still quite damp after 24 hours despite central heating. A lot of fluff was produced. After some considerable searching I found a manual on the internet. There was not one in the box, and no advice that a manual was available. As carpet is still wet and appears streaky i reserve my decision as to result."
