"Understaffed, poorly managed, terrible training"

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"every single thing about this place"

Current Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"They aren't giving us any hazard pay during the pandemic, whichbis illegal by the way."

Current Employee - District Manager says

"Leadership team is all new and they dont lnow what they are doing at the store level or as forward strategy ."

Former Employee - Device Technician says

"The benefits package is nonexistent. The pay is a joke. It is not a livable wage. And if you have any other responsibilities, you have to put it on hold. The turnover rate is very high. The management wants goals to be met, with little to no resources. Also, the management isn't dependable nor reliable."

Former Employee - Sales Associate says

"Was let go for being sick for a week."

Former Employee - Sales Associate says

"Cut commissions on sales, was always short staffed"

says

"Extremely uncompetitive pay. Were unwilling to properly staff the location forcing a skeleton crew to hold up a bustling store. Nepotism was evident as workers within the franchise were paid less than managements kid who held fewer responsibilities and performed lower in metrics than the franchise average. Three months late on my yearly review only to refuse to negotiate a pay increase beyond a quarter an hour (this would have made the job pay less than minimum wage due to local increases taking effect)."

Former Employee - Sales Associate says

"Pay was terrible, manager would sit and watch the workers through the security cameras on his phone whether he was working or at home, no sense of structure to the goings on of the day."

Current Employee - Manager says

"The local franchise culture is pretty toxic. You are constantly berated on what not is getting done instead of getting positive feedback on what you are doing. The upper management uses audio and video cameras to review what you are doing and how you are selling. It feels exactly like it sounds; "Big Brother is watching". You never get a call saying great job but you better believe you will get reprimanded if you don't handle a customer like corporate feels you should. It creates an environment of distrust. As for advancement, there is very little available. You can be an associate, manager, or area manager. That's as far as you can go. Definitely not a place to think about a career. If I were in an applicants shoes, I would look elsewhere and stay away from this company. At least in this area. It may be better elsewhere since this is a franchise operation."

Technician (Former Employee) says

"Was definitely fun to work here, but management was lazy and often would just leave but happen to pop back when the owner comes. Poorly ran with no support and not even close to paid enough for what you do. They will happily not tell you about raises you should have gotten months ago to save money then get upset with you for asking about them. Pay is never on time. Sometimes would get paid a week after the pay period ends because the owner is too lazy to go to the bank because it’s a Friday or something. Terribly ran business. Not one.Bad company all around"

Assistant Manager Retail (Former Employee) says

"This job is a joke. If you want a personal life outside of work you can forget it. They will wear you down to nothing. The owner will tell you one thing and the manager will tell you something completely different, so communication there is nonexistent. You don't get paid what you're worth, and the turn over rate is so ridiculous you shouldn't even bother getting to know your coworkers. Do NOT work here unless you want to go crazy.NothingToo many to name"

Commercial Sales Representative (Former Employee) says

"The company has no clear direction. They don’t value they’re employees and let them go with no clear reason. They also automatically take 30 minutes out of your daily time punch and a lot of days you don’t even have time to have a 10 minute uninterrupted meal period.NoneManagement doesn’t help employees."

Store Associate Technician (Former Employee) says

"This company is horribly ran, no actual Human Resources, it's a popularity contest locally to get under the district manger's favor, and anybody who isn't a part of his "click" is removed. Unfair hours, false statements during hiring process regarding pay and also a general lack of care towards the employee. Find employment literally elsewhere. The owner is is completely unaware of what the district manager and the Roseville location's issues are. They do zero training, and then blame the employee when a mistake is made and failing to own up to their lack of training. Gross company, poor business standards, and even lower form of management."

Trusted Advisor (Former Employee) says

"I got paid nickels and dimes for experience I had when I came to the store. And I was constantly told to cut corners and told not to learn somthing because it was easier to take it to fast phone or Best Buy and still charge the customer for someone else’s work. No work responsibility happens here."

SALES TEAM LEAD (Former Employee) says

"Bad place to work. Micro managed every day. I would nor recommend working here. The salary is not worth the effort put in every day . I hated coming to work every day"

SALES ASSOCIATE/DEVICE TECHNICIAN (Former Employee) says

"The company is severely understaffed. The employees are there to hold positions and the proficient employees have to work harder to pick up the slack. The upper management are NOT ACCOUNTABLE at all. If you make a mistake, it is the employee that is at fault which would result in the lack of training. There are a few employees that make the day bearable. There were instances that some of the other employees would steal merchandise from the company. I would not recommend that job to anyone."

Commercial sales (Former Employee) says

"Batteries Plus Bulbs is not a place you want to work. No benefits, management will throw you under the bus, give you unrealistic goals and not help you to succeed"

Sales Associate (Former Employee) says

"First of you get paid twice a month and you get sucky pay for all the work you do and if you want to receive bonus you basically have to have every customer but 3 thingsLack luster lazy job not much to knowPay sucks"

Store Manager/Sales Manager (Former Employee) says

"Owners do not care for their employees. No matter how hard you work for them, especially raising the sales to highest levels, never says thank you or great job to the manager or employees. Only focuses on opportunities and 'beats' them up about them."

Commercial Retrofit Battery Builder & Mobile Repair Specialist (Former Employee) says

"Most of the time, there was too many tasks to be performed and no time to do them. It is impossible to work with a constant customer flow and perform the technical services provided. As a technician repairing devices, constant interruption of incoming customers and promise time of completed work is unrealistic."

Warehouse Worker (Former Employee) says

"They will work you until your body hurts and then pile more on. I was expected to do all warehouse work by myself. When I expressed my concern that the work vehicle was unsafe for Alaskan winter roads I was let go without a discussion. Whatever you do avoid this business"

Outside Commercial Sales Manager (Former Employee) says

"Unorganized. Poorly run franchise. Unrealistic sales goals. The franchise goals were not inline with corporate expectations. The necessary tools for success were not accessible to drive sales."

Manager (Former Employee) says

"rude, ignorant leadership with no knowledge of customer service or day to day operations. Bare minimum wages and benefits. No desire to keep quality staff, high turnover everywhere."

Sales Associate (retail) says

"I left my job at Batteries Plus due to the lack of competent management. The manager would always abuse her powers of management and always leave early for one thing or another. Whenever I went in I always got yelled at for either something she did or something that someone else did accidentally."

Account Manager (Former Employee) says

"Bad company to work. The owner is lier. Tells you one thing and says he never said it. I must have heard wrong. The owner has major ADD/ADHD. Took all my working accounts away and then tells me my numbers are down. Terrible environment."

Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) says

"If you like people taking money from your check for a problem you did not cause or work for a company with poor management skills poor gm skills and being racially profiled then this is the place for you they lie and say you'll get 10 then when you see your ckeak its 9 dollars hr thats not enough to pay any bills you may have"

Assistant Manager (Current Employee) says

"Save yourself the headache. Don't work here unless you are ok with basically indentured servitude... Oh yeah.... And loyalty and longevity means nothing... Even when their turnover rate is through the roof. If you have kids... Good luck with getting to spend time with them. No vacation or sick pay offered even after 7 years of employment. Managers get screwed by being forced to work 50-70 hours without ANY overtime compensation... But let them leave one hour early and they get that taken off their checksNone anymore tbhNo healthcare, low pay, hours cut when store doesn't have high sales, pay ceilings and not much room for advancement, bonus structure is a joke and you never hit bonus because sales goals are exponentially increasing"

Store Manager (Former Employee) says

"Franchise owned location. Owner was a poor manager and disrespectful towards employees. Just a bad culture and bad place to work. Pay was acceptable but zero benefits.NoneOwners"

Sales Associate (Former Employee) says

"Do not work for this company ever period. The manager is terrible at the Helena location, I wouldn't work here if this was the last job on the planet."

John Vanderburg says

"I bought three Bell & Howell Triburst light @$29.99 each and they were supposed to last for at least five years per the warranty. The Batteries + Bulbs telephone customer service told me to take the back to the store for an exchange and the clerk at the store told me that I would have to deal directly with the manufacturer. They can't even support the products they sell. I'm out $100.00 because the manufacturer won't return my calls. My best advice is "RUN FOREST RUN" as hard as you can and please don't waste your time with these people. The manager would not come out of his office to speak to me."

Shaun Loflin says

"I went in to the North Main st location to get my lcd iPhone Screen fixed because it had green lines showing, when I picked the phone up it still was broken well no more green lines only the SCREEN IS NOW YELLOW!!! I paid $200 for a brand new clear screen not a dingy yellow filter like screen! I am highly upset! I am a model With a clothing business having a clear screen is really important! I am having to put off my work for Batteriesplus mishap!!! They told me there was nothing they could do! Even with the warranty not cool"

Tom Walczak says

"I had bought a car battery that was one month shy of one-year-old and had failed with a shorted cell. They checked it with a volt meter and said since it registered less than 10 volts they could not replace it under warranty. The counter girl could not explain other than "it is company policy". But nowhere in their company policy is this BS listed. I had to go elsewhere and buy a new battery. I will never buy from them again and hope others never will."

Raul says

"Do not use them For iPhone battery replacement. Unless you want none of the buttons on the top and sides of your phone to work after. And your Flashlight to no longer work. Now I have no way to turn my Phone off Or on. No volume control. They said I needed to update my iOS. Ummmm no. That had nothing to do with it. Those items were working just fine before they got ahold Of The phone."

judy teshima says

"They sold me an overcharged watch battery. It looked like the watch was broken and I almost threw it away. After a week the watch started working."

Davide Berti says

"They sold me a used battery and didn't track my 90 day warranty in the system. I talked to management and they said that it's unfortunate they have untrustworthy employees. That guy sold me a bad battery and kept the money"

customer says

"This company is a joke. We bought a battery for a motorcycle, installed it just to drive to shop, took it out while repairs were being made, put it back in after repairs and it's dead. Charged it, it did charge, installed it and an hour or so later, it's dead. Took it back to store we bought it, they tested it and said it was dead. They charged it and gave it back to us. We think it's going to die again so we are scared to use it because we don't want to be out on the road and it die on us. They would not give us a refund or swap out the battery for a different one. The owner of the store in Newnan, Ga. is a real jerk and doesn't care at all about the customer. When we took it back, he had to keep it overnight so 2 trips to get the same battery. Will never use them again for anything. You can't even leave a review (good or bad) on their website. They only have reviewed reviews so they can make themselves look good. If you want a good company, go somewhere else and don't use this company."

Tom Riffe says

"I stopped by to have key fob programmed at the Spokane Valley, Wa store only to be told it that that they close in 30 minutes so they cannot do it. I said I just had one programmed here and it less then 10 minutes. Then he said neither one of us knows how to use the machine I would need to come back. Poor customer service and having employees that cannot perform advertised services"

Ramneet Garcha says

"Batteries+Bulbs do not stand behind their commitment. I was told that if I order the Hyper Sport 20L-BS Lithium Powersport BatteryCYL10055 it will be ready for pickup in a weeks time. I called multiple Batteries+Bulbs stores in my area & was given different answers, I was told the battery is available from the vendor & I can order it, after I placed the order, I get a call that this battery is on Back Order & if I want the battery I will have to pay $ 50.00 shipping charges, They have lied to me & are not ready to stand behind their commitment, If a product is not available then why is it showing on the website, Worst experience ever. DO NOT TRUST THEM."

Bill Baumbach says

"I purchased a Duracell Ultra battery for my truck, part #SL165XM. This battery has a 3-year warranty. I purchased the battery approximately 18 months ago at the Laguna-Elk Grove store. I called and said the battery is dead and will not charge. The man in the store said that the battery must be brought in with a full charge to be tested. I said that won't happen due to the battery will not charge. He said there was nothing he could do and that they lose customers over this. I said you have lost another one. I went to Costco and bought a battery there. Should have done this the first time. Poor service and warranty is useless."

Luis says

"Warranty is a big SCAM... They wont refund or replaced... Is just False Advertisement..."

Gary Stockslager says

"I took my two iPhones in to have new batteries installed. My phone was showing a maximum capacity on my battery at 86% and my wife's phone was showing a maximum capacity of 90%. So, technically her phone really didn't need a battery change but I figured since I had to drive ½ hour to get there I would have them both change. BIG MISTAKE, BIG MISTAKE.... They changed the battery in my phone without issue but they completely destroyed my wife's phone to the point I had to take it to the Apple Store. The techs at the Apple Store put it on their diagnostics machine and there was absolutely nothing they could do for me. The phone was ruined. I had to buy a new iPhone. When I contacted Batteries Plus they said; it may or may not be their problem and they would have to send it out to their headquarters for review. The guy at Batteries Plus tried to tell me their technicians are better trained than the people at Apple. Long story longer, I will never use these guys again. Probably OK for just buying batteries but as for doing repairs/battery replacements I would look elsewhere."

Denise says

"I bought a UV Sanitizer at the Batteries & Bulbs store in Brandon, Florida on a Sunday and returned it the next Saturday. The cord to plug into the machine was defective and broke off when I plugged it in. I returned the item to the store and the young man said he would have to call his manager. He did and then told me he couldn't take the product back because it was not able to be sold because the cord was broken. WHAT!!! Of course it is not sell-able - it was defective! The product should have been returned, customer reimbursed and the product returned to the manufacture. Terrible customer service and I'm out $34.99 + tax. I spent over $100 on batteries but I will buy batteries somewhere else not."

Oliver Jones says

"I've done business with Battery Plus for many years. And a few days ago, I went there to have two batteries replaced in two auto key fobs. They gave me two different quotes. One @ $13 ea for one time replacement, & one @ $26 ea for lifetime replacement. These batteries are dirt cheap in cost. Some as low as 5/$6. Please don't buy from Battery Plus. He said that the batteries are cheap, but most people don't know how to open the key fob. Well, it's very simple to open the fob. And only takes 30 seconds to change the battery. You can YouTube (how to change auto key fob battery, to learn just how to change the batteries. DO NOT GO GET RIPPED OFF @ Battery Plus, PLEASE."

Ben Naseath says

"I bought a battery 4 years ago for my Samsung Note 4. The warranty right on the box said Lifetime Warranty. The battery worked well for about 2 years. Then it started to lose life. I kept nursing it along for 2 more years but now it will only hold a very little charge. I took it in and they said the warranty is really only like 6 months. I paid double at Batteries Plus to get a non existant warranty. So the battery was good but the "Lifetime Warranty" is a scam."

Deborah Lobert says

"Service has never been a problem but I do have a problem with their return policy. Written in fine print on the BACK of the reciept. "Refund only allowed up to 14 days from date of purchase." Please write this important piece of information on the FRONT of your receipt. This is an archaic policy, I was back in 3 weeks and not given a refund. I may not need more batteries for a year. This really makes me angry. There is no other store I shop at with this kind of return policy. (Written on the back of the receipt, no less.)"

rekhae says

"On September 23 about noon I went to the location at 2324 Ronald Reagan Pkwy in Snellville, GA. Batteries + Bulbs customer services if normally great but on this day, I met a rude employee. The lady that I met at the counter informed me about the process to program my key fob and the options I had. I decided to go with my own key fob. She then took my payment and my keys and went outside to my car to program it. After about 10mins she came back to me to inform me that my car battery was dead and they need to jump it. I was perplexed and I informed her that the battery did not have any issues before I got there. If anything was wrong with it, I would have gotten notice on my dashboard. I told her to go ahead and jump it. She tried to explain that sometimes the programming process can drain a battery, while she was speaking another employee jumped on out of nowhere and started saying "oh yes it's dead, the battery is 3 years old, blah, blah" So I asked him what that meant and what does that have to do that I came here with a battery that was fine and now after they touched my car it is dead. I informed him that my car was just fine until I came there. He asked talking and I turned to her and told her to jump the car and finish the job. As I waited I noticed that she jumped the car at least 2 times - she came in twice to pick up the machine to jump the car. After about another 10mins she came in and told me that she was done but I could only use the fob to start the car not to open the door. I thanked her for her service and went to my car. On getting to my car, my car would not even turn over - NOTHING. I tried a couple of time - NOTHING. I walked back into the store and told her that my car is not starting. Mr. Unprofessional jumped in again and stated that the battery was 3 years old and and it says so on it, he can show me. He was flippant and rude. I turned to him and I asked him who he was speaking to? I informed him that I was not speaking to him and I don't care if the battery was 5 years old, the fact still remains that when I came to the store my battery was fine. The Asst. Manager Xavier Reed came out and apologized for the interaction. He explained that he will look at the battery and that sometimes if the battery is almost drained the programming process will kill it. He told me that the employee was not trying to be rude, it is a cultural thing. I told him I understand the cultural aspect BUT when you come to a job you learn the culture of the company. He explained what happened to the battery and gave me the 3 options I had. I finally decided to buy a new battery from him instead of going to Infinti. I will continue to use this store because of Xavier Reed. He DEFINITELY exemplifies the Batteries Plus Bulbs culture I am used to."
