BASF Sucks Customer Reviews and Feedback

From Everything.Sucks

BASF SE is a German multinational chemical company and the largest chemical producer in the world. The BASF Group comprises subsidiaries and joint ventures in more than 80 countries and operates six integrated production sites and 390 other production sites in Europe, Asia, Australia, the Americas and Africa. Its headquarters is located in Ludwigshafen, Germany.

A former employee wrote "BASF is hands down one of the worst companies I've ever had the displeasure to work for. They treat the employees like school children that can't be trusted and every time something goes wrong it's nothing but finger pointing and blaming people instead of problem solving."

Current Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"Place is old and falling apart. If there were no cars onsite it would look abandoned for 30 years. Very toxic culture"

Current Employee - Engineer says

"Managers think it's completely acceptable to schedule meetings for non-urgent matters outside of work hours and vacation and call you when you are out on sick time. Employees that reported this behavior to HR learned that HR doesn't see this as a problem. As you can guess, BASF may not be the best company for working moms or single parents."

Current Employee - Process Technician says

"ridiculous fire retardant uniform that you wear in the summer good ole boy system for moving up management is retarded preach safety in a death trap of a plant upper management is saving every penny to retire with reward whistle blowers pinning you against coworkers"

Current Employee - Process Technician says

"Pension, retirement health insurance and stock purchase program were all taken from employees while the corporation was making record profits. The mid and senior leadership is spiteful, dishonest and vindictive. The culture is toxic and one of the running jokes in Port Arthur is that management hates us. There are no plans to spend capital on anything of substance at the site. There is minimal training and blind loyalty is considered more important than ability, talent and knowledge. Targeting and bullying are common tactics by senior operations management. Fear and intimidation are the common drivers to keep employees in line. There is no voice for hourly technicians. Very little interaction is given by senior management and feedback is not appreciated, nor acted upon. Gift cards are given to contractors by management when an operator is caught making a mistake. This is a policy promoted by operations and maintenance senior leadership. The distrust and level of animosity has become unhealthy."

Current Employee - Engineer says

"Procurement steers the ship, not real world results. IT also locks you down....literally. Safety makes it tough to have anything outsourced. the company may be the worst at what they do, but if they have a good safety record they are in. Basically, the company ties your hands behind your back via "support" functions. No empowerment given to the employees making decisions"

Former Employee - Chemical Operator says

"The 12 hour shifts 6 days a week"

"They communicate a culture of growth and work life balance. The work life balance is your owned by you as an employee and is achievable. Operator (Former Employee) says

"BASF Savannah is a terrible place to work. The management is clueless and don’t care about employees. The equipment is old and outdated, nothing gets fixed just patched. You’ll work 60+ weeks because they can’t keep employees. If you look on indeed the operator position is always open because the turnover rate is extremely high. Management will lie to your face to just go get things done. Do not work at this place!Great benefitsNo off days, no training"

Project & TAR Materials Manager (Former Employee) says

"My time as a contractor at BASF proved very frustrating, the initial hiring was arduous and subsequent management was distrustful and lacked maturity in process control. an over abundance of confidence in inept company personnel lead to failure which was then blamed on the cadre of contractors attempting to work within a corrupt system which was pushed by certain individuals solely to drive work to cronies.NaNa"

HR Guy says

"No work-life balance. Hey, the managemebt team does not undesrtand that we have a life ourside of work, and weekends mean day-offs. Somehow, most of the time on weekdays, I have to OT until 8pm.
