AMC Theatres (originally an abbreviation for American Multi-Cinema; often referred to simply as AMC and known in some countries as AMC Cinemas or AMC Multi-Cinemas) is an American movie theater chain headquartered in Leawood, Kansas, and the largest movie theater chain in the world. Founded in 1920, AMC has the largest share of the U.S. theater market ahead of Cineworld and Cinemark Theatres.
After acquiring Odeon Cinemas, UCI Cinemas, and Carmike Cinemas in 2016, it became the largest movie theater chain in both the world and the United States. It has 2,200 screens in 244 theatres in Europe and over 8,200 screens in 661 theatres in the United States of America.
On the most populated social media platform, Facebook, a sad customer wrote " AMC is banning universal pictures from their theaters in response to Universal releasing Trolls World Tour on Demad during the coronavirus epidemic. This is a sad and pathetic response by AMC. Children were able to assume some sort of normalness while being on lockdown and AMC is trying to punish Universal for that. Is it because AMC is afraid that digital releases will soon replace the theater experience. Probably. I know they lost my business over this selfish decision."
