Tocilizumab (INN, trade name Actemra), also known as atlizumab, is an immunosuppressive drug, mainly for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis, a severe form of arthritis in children. It is a humanized monoclonal antibody against the interleukin-6 receptor.
Actemra has terrible side effects, such as swollen face and eyes, body imbalance, weakness, and chest wheezing, according to a review by Loor at drugs.com
"I did one Actemra injection. After injection, I could not walk straight and be so tired. Thought it was a side effect. Woke up with a swollen face and eyes! Wheezing in my chest. Called my doctor he said prednisone and Benadryl. It’s been 4 days and I am still so tired and nauseous"
