AES Corporation Sucks Customer Reviews and Feedback

From Everything.Sucks

The AES Corporation is a Fortune 500 company that generates and distributes electrical power. AES is headquartered in Arlington, Virginia, and is one of the world's leading power companies, generating and distributing electric power in 15 countries and employing 10,500 people worldwide.

A disgruntled employee writes "You will work your butt off for a low salary, then after your 90 days you’ll wait for a raise that they promise on hire possibly not receiving it, and no hope for promotion nor advancement". Another also express his grievances, he said "Truly they don’t care, to get the job done and go home that’s your life when you work at AES. Working with them was a like living on an island, no communication and no interaction just cold slave work. Not to mention they barely have the necessary amount of materials to complete a job, which usually creates a problem with the bonuses. Never received a bonus they just lie and say it will come after it was promised. Also, you are replaceable expendable they do not care about you."

Former Employee - Laborer says

"I worked at AES Corporation full-time for more than a year Cons: Poor upper management Adding extra work to employees to cut/not replace jobs."

Former Employee - Customer Service Representative says

"I worked at AES Corporation full-time for more than a year Cons: HR is based out of Argentina and though there is local HR onsite they really have no power. No room for advancement although they indicate when you are hired that do hire from within. During the first year, you can only take 2 days off - period so be prepared for that."

Former Employee - Regional Manager says

"I worked at AES Corporation full-time for more than 5 years Cons: Lays off US Citizens to reduce costs by replacing with Expats Executive and Senior Leadership manipulates with intimidation and misdirection instead of motivation and managing Human Resource support is off-shore and minimally supportive An overall culture of fear, intimidation, lies, bullying and mistrust Uses the word "Transparent" as a smokescreen and misdirection"

Current Employee - Manager says

"I have been working at AES Corporation part-time for more than a year Cons: Micro-managing management and lack of communication between groups. No sense of urgency due to finger pointing to other teams for not getting things done. The company is deeply splintered and dysfunctional within IT and IT Security, with employees and mgmt not trusting each other to not throw them "under the bus" to save themselves."

Current Employee - Data Analyst says

"I have been working at AES Corporation full-time for more than 10 years Cons: All of the positions of power are being filled with foreigners who don't give a darn about the communities they are working in now. Windmills and solar farms, aren't they so pretty aren't they Don Quixote?"

Current Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"I have been working at AES Corporation full-time for more than 10 years Cons: The company dividend growth has been strong, which clearly pleases the market, and indicates that some element of their strategy is currently effective. However, I don't believe the underlying company is well positioned to be strong for the long run. To me there are two very important underlying elements to any strong sustainable company, People and Process. On the people side, talent attraction, development and retention is key and AES is not doing that well at all. Corporate expects compliance, full stop, and does not value creativity or input. That strategy can work for a little while, but over-governed and uninspired people will eventually deliver uninspired results. AES is also extremely weak when it comes to internal processes, the company is just far too reactionary to do that well. Strong sustainable processes are developed by the teams that have to live with those processes and managed by leaders that believe in those people, and are not prone to reinventing the wheel every quarter."

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"I worked at AES Corporation full-time for more than 10 years Cons: Zero chance to advance, so so so disappointing."

Current Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"I have been working at AES Corporation full-time for more than 5 years Cons: Other than generating the pervasive need to keep your resume updated, what can one say about an organization that can't manage change, has been reorganizing for going on 7 years, has same executive leadership team that hasn't managed to get the stock price out of a flat trajectory? The same leadership that tanked the company thinks they're the team to rebuild it. Duplicitous and secretive management that can't lead so they bully, lie and manipulate. Beware of ANY company that changes their values like people change channels."

Former Employee - Executive Assistant says

"I worked at AES Corporation full-time for more than 3 years Cons: They broadcast that they are a work-life balance company, that family comes first, that they are loyal to their employees, but they are anything but that on all fronts. You start there thinking that you are in this great environment, only to find out that you are overworked, underappreciated, burned out in a year, and that there is no such thing as balance, only work harder and work more."

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"I worked at AES Corporation full-time for more than 3 years Cons: Completely tone deaf management. Horrendous support staff in the CEO's office (completely unprofessional). No clear professional development path laid out for employees."

Painter/packenger (Former Employee) says

"If you like being treated like s**t no matter how hard you work. You are laid-off to rehire and you get hired back as a temp doing the same thing with a pay drop. That's just not right and it's illegal by state law but not going to get in to all of that."

H.S. Business Teacher (Former Employee) says

"No library. No established curriculum. Another warehouse for teens during the day. Very little, if any, remedial support for HS students. "lixo so tem chance p u x a s a c o podia ser melhor"

Maintenance (Former Employee) says

"The employees running and maintaining the power plants are exceptional. The Corporation, on the other hand, has completely changed the function of HR and done away with any local support. The Corporate officers are very polished at making the company appear to care, but in practice there is very little that they do to create a good working environment."

I liked the crew I worked with though and still talk to a couple of them. I get paid more at my new job. Management hardly gets a day off, but all I was, was a part time employee There w as one time I didn't show up for work and that was because I was in a car accident and they were understanding about it Cons: Short staff, low pay, some days no breaks at all, working a 9 hour shift"
