A customer shares his disappointing experience and lists his complaints on feefo.com, "1. Crew is constantly taking smoking breaks in guest areas. 2. Other boats stationed in front of ours for 3 out of 6 days, blocking the view. 3. Not enough active tours, only bus tours for the elderly. 4. Always had to search for a bartender. Not enough service. 5. Bedspread in our suite was damaged."
Current Employee - Anonymous Employee says"You are constantly on the phones and dealing with upset customer after upset customer. Never worked somewhere that had such poor management and leadership teams. CEO is the most unapproachable person, which makes it difficult to see the good. The pay is horrible and you truly get what you pay for because you are surrounded by people that you question on the daily. Not only that, but HR was a nightmare to work with."
says"Poor management and questionable business strategy, family business."
Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says"The most uncaring management, always looking out for themselves, never about their people."
Former Employee - Sales Staff says"No one gets raises, unless they have gotten rid of your department & they want to appease you. You are only told when you are doing something wrong, never commentated when you've done a good job. No moral building at all. Since February 2016, they have been laying off and/or firing or demoting long time staff (ex-CEO Demoted). Company meeting in June, owner berated entire staff (see other review about too much laughter at work being a bad thing). Just got rid of the print department after sales had increased due to their efforts."
says"The company used to be a good place to work, but seems to be in a serious downward spiral. The owner makes irrational decisions with little thought to how they will effect the business or employees, then gets upset and screams at people when the decisions he made don't work. It's really effected moral, employees were screamed at in a company meeting that we need to be more positive, then were told we are laughing too much and shouldn't be happy and laughing at work. Since the beginning of the year the company has also been losing good people on a regular basis, some leaving on their own and others because the company has been cutting positions, including good executives and long term employees. The people they are replacing them with (if they are replaced, most of the time they aren't so someone else just picks up more work) don't have any relative background in the jobs they are being hired for, so now we have departments being run by people who don't know or understand the jobs of the people they are supervising."
Current Employee - Anonymous Employee says"Upper management not qualified to run the company. A co-ordinator was promoted to VP, leading to a department with a revolving door. Extreme amount of gossiping and back stabbing."
says"The company's culture used to be a positive one, everyone went to work smiling and most of the staff seemed happy to form part of the organization. As Uniworld began to change focus from the product to its branding and image employee morale began to drop. The company did not live up to the hype it wanted to build and this caused added pressure for employees. Most of its departments are short staffed which means one person needs to fill in to cover the duties of other positions most of the time while working on their own tasks."
Sales Consultant (Former Employee) says"The company is going through hard times so the atmosphere is very melancholic. They just had a recent reduction in workforce of about 16 employees. The company offers good benefits but their management is terrible. They promote managers who have zero skills to manage a department. You can take your complaints to higher powers, but it will make no difference. Also, there is no opportunity if you want to move up the ladder. The higher positions are given to people who are not fit to do the job.A free cruise once a yearBad management, no room to grow"
Accounting Specialist (Current Employee) says"This place used to have a good work environment, good compensation, and the people were fun. Anymore it has become nearly unbearable. Senior managers are getting canned right and left and replaced with yes-men. No annual salary increases, although the benefits are still quite good. The owner's son has taken it upon himself to crack the whip because sales are way down, but his method is to run the place like a mad dictator. In addition to getting rid of good executives he recently held a company-wide meeting where he demoralized the entire staff by telling us that our work environment is disgusting, and that we're disgusting. Calling us out for ridiculous things like using mugs with the company's old logo, and not telling the office manager when the carpet needed cleaning. Seriously, as if every accountant, customer service rep, marketing manager, etc was responsible for monitoring the carpet situation even though there's 3 facilities staff on site in the small building. He accused us of being mopey and then turned around and accused us of laughing too much at work. I would only recommend this place if you didn't plan on staying long. You can get some experience in the travel industry and then be on your way.Cruise benefits, matching 401kNo job security, disrespectful managment"
