Nordson Corporation is an American multinational corporation that designs and manufactures dispensing equipment for consumer and industrial adhesives, sealants and coatings. The company also manufactures equipment used in the testing and inspection of electronic components, technology-based systems.

A former maintenance worker mentioned, "I did not like it at Nordson they have poor management they pay was not enough they never trained me correctly all the management cared about there people not there employees."

Current Employee - Engineer says

"Out of touch Management. No matter how hard you work it mainly goes unnoticed. Terrible benefits and getting worse. Human resources tries to make you think they shopped for the best plan for the employees but it's all about getting the cheapest not what's the best. Raises avg about cost of living so you never get ahead."

"Many issues, but here are a few. Managers do not provide much (or any) feedback and deadlines. Don't be surprised getting in tap on the shoulder for missing some deadline you knew nothing about. New folks are Communication here is very dicey. The facility is run down and in need of repair."

"The company is managed poorly and the benefits are getting worse by the year. The culture portrayed by management makes it a bad place to work. A few years ago, the VP at the time gave a speech in front of the entire division that although Nordson stock was in a downturn, that everything was fine. He told everyone not to worry since everyone in adhesives division was doing everything right. Not two weeks later there were layoffs. Engineering Management thinks what they do is comparable to national security. Everything is so secretive here as if they were doing something far more important/exciting than melting glue and squirting it on boxes. The annual raises are terrible. There is no opportunity for growth. Most open positions posted in the company are considered a “lateral move” which just translates to not wanting to give you a raise. When they do post open positions, management already has a candidate pre-selected for the job but encourages employees to apply anyways. The decision was already made before the position was even posted publicly. The vacation policy was changed for the worse a few years ago. The medical insurance is expensive and carries an extremely high deductible. Employees go nearly bankrupt when they have to use the insurance. It's very apparent that every move they make is to cut costs to make shareholders happy, not the employees. In another effort to cut cost, they laid off Human Resources and are using a 1-800 service. Every two years there is an employee survey. Every time, the #1 complaint is low salary. Management is genuinely confused about how to satisfy their employees. Instead of giving better raises, they give an ice cream party. Or buys a Kuerig machine but won’t supply the k-cups and doesn’t understand why employees complain about it."

"Management is nothing but huge egos, sociopaths, and business buzzword puppets. They don't promote from within and don't promote on ability or results. You won't get rewarded for extra effort either inside the office (overtime - evenings, weekends, holidays) or outside the office (continuing education)."

"Supervisor was new and had no idea what the job required and couldn't answer some simple questions. Felt unappreciated after just a few weeks. Found higher paying job after a short stint at Nordson and so glad I left."

"Im going on a year long deployment and requested to have my last 3 days in the states off work without pay and was told no. I know they are not legally required to give any time off of work but when someone is defending you and every person you care about and giving up a year with their loved ones and risking their life for your freedoms 3 days off without pay doesnt seem to be much to ask. Whoever it is that makes these decisions should be fired."

"-The free coffee tastes like the poo coffee that Austin Powers drank. "It's a bit nutty." -Nordson Asymtek is the worst place that I've ever worked. If the company had a motto it would be "That's not my job" with a huge, motivating thumbs up after it. -It will forever be the laughing stock of companies that I will never work at again, even if they offered me quadruple pay. Yes, you read that correctly, I wouldn't work there for 4X the pay. It's THAT bad. -The line supervisors are people that started out at probably $8.00 an hour back in the day, and have never left. They don't do anything except sit at their computers and browse the web. I'm being completely honest, ask someone that works there. -Example: The company treats their employees so poorly, that while I was there, an employee took it upon themselves to purposefully clog the toilets so that black water would overflow the plant, and they were successful. For about a month, the toilets would randomly overflow, and maintenance had to be called out on a daily basis to fix it. My team and I worked with blackwater in our work areas... -Nordson Asymtek only hires temporary works. They do not outsource for permanent employees. Most people will work there for 2-5 years and only get offered full-time when they threaten to quit. Nordson has no problems loading you down with a rediculous work load, and giving you critical responsibilities that could cripple their work flow if you quit, but they do not have the respect to compensate you fairly in return. The reason being, because the company was sold and turned into a cashcow by a large corporation. -If you read this, you've been warned, lol. Go ahead, work there and see if I'm completely full of their coffee."

"A lot of jobs can seem very good BEFORE you work there. Once you find out the truth, you will be disappointed. Management is a bad joke. NO real training program. Plenty of problems at this place. BEWARE!!They have a roof.Too many to list here."

"The company is world wide, and has done just fine. But the Ohio plant will be closing the doors on this place just like Virginia did. This facility has openly been in a deficit since announcing "the big move".AcLow wages, clipboard rookies."

"Interviewed but was not hired. Found out from inside source they were hiring a friend of someone who works there. All interviews were just to go through the motions.Fake Interviews"

"the place is bad to work, there is no control over situations or they are not resolved, work staff (supervisor and leader) super bad, any injury you have with them they retaliate and take you out of work"

"Supervisors have no spine or direction. You're promised everything if you go in, it it's all lip service! Only the special click gets privileges, while the others have to work harder to carry the dead weight. Taking the jobs there was the BIGGEST mistake I've made in 10 years. Now I'm starting a search for a REAL job!' DON'T EVEN BOTHER!"

"GM has completely disassociated himself from this place. Managers just go through the daily motions with no care at all. The hiring stratagy is backwards. 10 people come through the door 9 leave. Paying bottom of the barrel to new employee's and that is very clear with rif raf that they're hiring. Upper management attitude is if you don't like it then leave instead of fixing issues and believe me there are issues."

Material Handler/Forklift Operator (Former Employee) says

"I see they are looking for Material Handler 2nd shift again. This place has a huge turn over in employees. Heard they just fired 16 people in early spring 2016. Kept me for 88 days then in their words "parting ways with me" with no legit reason. I had perfect attendance, worked all OT offered with no major mistakes except for the ones I was blamed for until I proved supervisor wrong. It's 90 days to benefits & 180 days to union. Full time security staff presence plus Amherst Police are called in when they parts ways with employees because of death threats from past employees who lost their jobs. Supervisor/Worker relations is always on edge. Their fiscal year ends in November, Today is June 12th which makes it less than 180 days to axe time. They have it all figured out.Great starting paySupervisor/Worker relations, Attitudes"

"The management is terrible. You will be micromanaged all day. You are questioned where you are going every time you go on break or lunch. You are given so many job responsibilities that they expect you to be finished with each task by the end of your shift which is impossible. Certain people are treated better than others. Lots of gossipers and jealousy in each department. I've never experienced a work environment like this before.PTO and HolidaysMicromanaged, No Job Security, You have to be liked personally to get by in the company"

"Worst company ever. They buy up local companies only to reduce their workforce down to the bare minimum. They send all their work to their main cnc machine shop in Ohio. Management has no idea what their doing. They ruined numerous peoples lives that I worked with for 20 years. Terrible.."

"Intense process, more work than most people can do. Many put in well over 10 hours a day, and 3 to 4 hours a weekend, just to take care of what they were required to finish within a week. There was an unrealistic expectation. This is a sweatshop if there ever was one. Stay far away.Casual Dress (Jeans)Too much required, and too little time"

"My line lead is racist against white people, has had several reports filled to HR and not a single reprimand has ever been done. The job atmosphere is toxic as other employees will gossip and spread rumors about people they don't like. There is only job advancement opportunities if you happen to be one of the select few who are favorited at the company. Raises are not given fairly and you are not guaranteed to get any percentage raise."

"Death march delivery expectations. Aggressive and hostile upper management. Way underpaid, rundown cube farm, bad coffee, etc... New CEO really needs to fix this aggressive "gotcha" management style.The coffee was freeNo career path here folks..."

"Union and management played the favoritism card. It was a hot and dirty facility. Many of seasoned employees took advantage of 2nd tier employees. Poor quality and no sense of urgency."
