The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) is a statutory body established in 1966 as the international marketing dedicated to creating opportunities for Hong Kong's businesses. The organization has 50 offices around the world, including 13 on the Chinese mainland. With more than 50 years of experience, its mission is to explore opportunities for Hong Kong companies, especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and connect them with business partners around the world.

Professor Dr. Hon from LAM TAI FAI COLLEGE comments on the controversy on Hong Kong Trade Development Council back in 2010 The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) was accused back in 2010 of monopolizing the exhibition market in Hong Kong, as it organizes more than 40% of the trade fairs in the city. Dr. Lam regards this comment as an overlook of the practical needs of the local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and thus the overall economic development in Hong Kong, in which SMEs are the chief drivers of the city's trade, in HKTDC's own word.
