The Green Dot Corporation is an American financial technology and bank holding company headquartered in Pasadena, California. It is the world's largest prepaid debit card company by market capitalization. Green Dot is also a payments platform company and is the technology platform used by Apple Pay Cash, Uber, and Intuit. The company was founded in 1999 by Steve Streit as a prepaid debit card for teenagers to shop online. In 2001, the company pivoted to serving the "unbanked" and "underbanked" communities. In 2010, Green Dot Corporation went public with a valuation of $2 billion. Since its inception, Green Dot has acquired a number of companies in the mobile, financial, and tax industries including Loopt, AccountNow, AchieveCard, UniRush Financial Services, and Santa Barbara Tax Products Group.

I don't recommend this for intermediate works and even senior level workers will have issues breaking in. The culture is toxic people are over worked and unhappy. "I received an Visa card that I did NOT request. I tried to get a live person on the phone but my SS# is requested. I am NOT giving it out since this is something I did not apply for. Sent an email request for a call from their website. Took weeks to get a reply that told me to call their number !!!! This is totally unacceptable when identity theft may be involved."

"I have two green dot cards. One was given to my daughter by her friend for her 15th year birthday gift. Didn't know why it kept asking for her social security when I tried to use it. So I registered it in my name No phone number to call. Then I got a second one with different name but could see afterward when I took it out of its packaging that it was green dot. This time there was a bit more info how to register and I did. I have NEVER been able to use them and today when I was going through my purse I found them and decided to check them out only to see I have a negative balance now and they have eaten up all of the money on the cards. I need someone to contact me so I can close both these accounts. Who do I need to call? Is this company in the US?"

"They really deserve a half star. My son closed his account with them because he kept having problems with his card. They gave him the run around over and were supposed to send him his $2100. They even sent him a bad check that he deposited in his bank. He's called them multiple times and they say they are sending the money and til today he still hasn't gotten it. This company is a thief."

"If I I would give Green dot less than one star I would. I hate their trashy ass overseas customer service. I purchased a card and loaded $300 for my son to us in Vegas. When trying to use the card he was told it would take two -three days to verify his information. So there he was stuck in Vegas!! I sat on hold with customer service for 3 1/2 hours just to get hung up on. Green dot is a f-ing joke and they need to close ASAP. They’re a f-ing rip off and I need my money back off this card."

"I purchased a greendot card with $150 on it to buy an awesome necklace online. Can't even use the card for online purchases at all or at an atm. Only in person transactions. I have spent 10 hours trying to talk to a human being for 5 days now over and over. The first night I got a terrible human that ignored me and hung up on me. If I wanted to use the card for in person transactions, I would have left it as cash. Oh but you can bet green dot took THEIR $8 fee off my card somehow but I am not allowed to use it. Don't use greendot please. ever!!!!"

"I have learned that 3 days ago, GreenDot has launched a new brand name the "Go2Bank" Their commercials for this new scam are perhaps in heavier rotation on COZI television. This so-called, new bank claims to pay you 10 times higher interest than the average of banks in the USA. What good is a higher interest rate, if they will steal your money from you, or deny you access to your money, claiming a computer glitch. Do not trust this organization. If it seems too good to be true, it is! I am happy that so many negative reviews of GreedDot (oh, I'm sorry, I made a typo), have forced them to rebrand themselves in an effort to continue stealing from unsuspecting victims."

I've called over 10 times for the past few days trying to speak with someone and the call keeps getting disconnected, I've reached out through email still unsuccessful and I've been with them over a year now I just would like to know where's my money and what's the problem."

"They closed my account and I was notified til after my stimulus was rejected by them. Knowing people need their money with everything that's going on today with the virus and everything. Saying I haven't used it in 6 months they could at least give you a year or notify you. Maybe i couldn't use it no money no job have they ever thought about that. Now there's no telling when i will receive my money. Rent due bills behind amongst other things needed so sad. Thanks Greendot for letting alot of us down for purchasing your PREPAID card."

"They will hold your money when you use it at a pump .some time charge 2 times for one transaction and refund money days or weeks later. And they closed 1000s of accounts of people that were depending on getting there second stimuless money on there cards . Green dot knew theys cards were giving out by tax companys and knew the stimuless money went to the same account taxes were transferred to and still closed accounts . Will not recommend to anyone ."

"One star is to much should be minus 10 stars, I had a problem with my green dot debit card before and finally they fixed it after a few months, well here I go again, my replacement card stopped working, so I contacted their customer service and they sent a new replacement card, but they blocked my funds and I can not get them to unblock my funds and I am unable to pay my rent. I contacted their customer service 30 times a day for five days but I am unable to get help, any investors should stop and think twice about investing with crooks."

"NEVER get a Green Dot! I received a prepaid card as a gift. Activating the card automatically charged $8. Now I am being charged $8 a month in fees and there is no way to cancel my card. Customer service is a joke. It's all automated and requests your SSN. Stay away!"
