From Everything.Sucks

Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP (Gowlings) was a Canadian and international law firm, with about 700 legal professionals in 10 offices in Canada and as well as London, Moscow, and Beijing. The firm offered legal support in business law, advocacy/litigation and intellectual property law.

A former legal assistant advises that professionals stay away, writing, "The staff is at Gowlings is burning out. People are dropping like flies and can’t keep up with the workload. Lawyers and Partners can be bullies. Legal admins get yelled at And leave in tears. Support staff can’t keep up with the volume. Revolving door in hospitality, IT, HR, marketing and assistants. So much stress and overtime."

"Gowling purport to be a diverse and caring firm but in reality there is a running theme of bullying and a massive blame culture. Mental health is punished and should you raise an issue you will be managed out of the company. No career progression, no recognition, some controlling and difficult personalities. Toxic environment, where management do little but take all the credit and lower down employees are run into the ground and constantly undermined. Cons: Controlling and bullying management, no progression, no recognition, discrimination is rife"
