Del Monte Foods, Inc (trading as Del Monte Foods) is a North American food production and distribution company headquartered at 3003 Oak Road, Walnut Creek, California, USA.[2] Del Monte Foods is one of the country's largest producers, distributors, and marketers of branded processed food for the U.S. retail market, generating approximately $1.8 billion of annual sales. Its portfolio of brands includes Del Monte, S&W, Contadina, College Inn, Fruit Burst, Fruit Naturals, Orchard Select, and Suresh. Gregory Longstreet is the current Chief Executive Officer of Del Monte Foods. Several Del Monte products hold the number one or two market share position. The company also produces, distributes, and markets private-label food. In 2014, Del Monte Foods, Inc. was acquired by the Filipino multinational food and beverage company Del Monte Pacific Limited in an acquisition deal that cost US$1.67 billion. Assets that were under Del Monte Foods, Inc. but were not part of the deal, continued to operate as a separate company under the name Big Heart Pet Brands, Inc.

GLOBAL fruit producers Del Monte have been accused of links to the perpetrators of violence against indigenous activists in the Philippines as attacks against land and environmental defenders escalate. A scathing report from Global Witness released on Wednesday uncovered connections between Del Monte Philippines and the local rancher and current Mayor Pablo Lorenzo III of Quezon, Bukidnon, who activists suspect of ordering attacks on them. The group warned that Del Monte failed to identify historic land conflicts and maintained an agreement with Mr. Lorenzo despite violent attacks against indigenous people on his ranch, including the 2017 murder of Renato Anglo. Mr. Anglao was the general secretary of the Tribal Indigenous Oppressed Group Association (TINDOGA). He was shot in the head in front of his wife and five-year-old son after demanding Mr. Lorenzo return the community’s land, which his company, the Montalvan Ranch, was using for agribusiness plantations. Nobody has been charged with the killing. The new Global Witness investigation revealed how Del Monte Philippines had a business agreement with Mr. Lorenzo to grow pineapples for them. They employed him as a consultant and renewed contracts with him even after evidence of violence associated with his ranches came to light and a government commission backed community claims. Del Monte Philippines is a major exporter of pineapples to Del Monte Foods Inc in the United States. It claimed that it had taken steps to end the relationship with Mr. Lorenzo over his role as a public official, but said it was not aware of the community land claims and the allegations of violence. Global Witness spokesman Ben Leather said: “It shows that corporate greed is not being held to account in the Philippines, with those standing up and speaking out being silenced without consequence.”

"Cooperate. There is a pay cap as well and it happens after only a few years of working for these people and its not much more than when you started. Oh and keep in mind that the motto we use is cooperate won't do anything for you. Also they decided not to send me my W2 so now i have to battle them to receive it. If your a housekeeper you are dirt to them. And you have to pretty much work yourself to the bone because if your times are even a little off being to quick or being to slow they will come after the hotel for it. And they don't care that you had to take extra time to help a guest you still have to stick to the time table."

"I got hired here at Del Monte about a week ago, and I quit today. Let's start with how they get you. Of course, if you're desperately seeking employment, especially during the loose ends of a pandemic (like I was), their work ad sounds appealing. Full-time, permanent employment, and you get paid every week?! Heck ya, sign me up. They get back to you right away, and basically you're hired if you are able to work the following day. The orientation/interview is none of that. Instead, the recruiter presents a cheap little slide show, while you fill out paper work, which is then followed by a test, that has no merit. After that, you are taken to the PPE Room (personal protective equipment), where you're instructed how to dress for the production floor. As soon as you're dressed, you're sent on the floor. No training. They expect you to learn everything on the floor from other workers, who look just as sore and annoyed to be there. They expect you to work 7 DAYS a work week. As a new hire, I was expected to work from the day I started, to the next week's Friday (11 days in a row). The work is repetitive, and you are definitely going to be sore. Your feet, back, hands, and patience will be tested. Please do not apply here. It is horrible! They only pay you minimum wage ($14/HR), and expect you to devote your loyalty to them. I wish I had known what a terrible place this was before I applied.long hours, low pay, terrible scheduling"

"Hours were long, pay was little, and the bottom line was the only worry. Within the first week my pay was reduced from what I was hired upon. They assigned me a different position than I was originally hired for and it was a pay decrease. Had to work outside in heavy rain and lightning around large metal structures. The experience was awful and I would not recommend it."
